My Off Road Premium is scheduled to be at the dealer between 9/27 and 10/18. The dockworker strike has me concerned that it will be delayed. My dealer is in eastern Pennsylvania. Does the 4Runner come across the country from California by rail maybe or from an East Coast port? Thanks for any info or words of encouragement…

The strike is supposed to start today. You could be lucky and yours got unloaded already. I'd ask your salesman to see where its at. If its not unloaded today good luck.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

The trucks come in through 3 (maybe 4 main ports): Port of NY & NJ, Port of Alabama, Port of Houston, Port of Long Beach.

If the dealer was expecting to have it on the lot by 9-27, then it's probably been processed out and is on its way. It most likely (this could be wrong though) came in through the port of New Jersey/New York and put on a rail car or on a car hauler and shipped to the dealer.

If it makes you feel any better, everyone (except you), has their 4Runner and are enjoying the hell out of 'em! :)

Make sure you do two very important things when you get it:

    1) Post pictures of it on this site. You know, so we can appreciate it's awesome-ness.
    2) Slap a mod/accessory on it ASAP, and a few more the following day/week.

Good luck. Couldn’t get a straight answer about when the 2025 would get to the dealership. Was on a waitlist when I bought the 2024. Signed papers the next day and GM said they just announced an impending strike. Those 2025s aren’t coming anytime soon.

Hopefully that means your 2024 is loaded and coming! Think you lucked out on this timing. You’re on the front side of it at least!

My 2024 is in port too. I ordered it through a NJ dealer. I'm pretty sure it is in Newark. You being in PA, yours is probably in Newark too. On my dealer website mine shows in a "Build Phase". I was told by the dealer to expect it by next Friday 10/11. I'm pretty sure that "build phase" means it is at the Toyota Logistics Center at the port getting the port accessories installed. The problem is that I'm also pretty sure the Toyota Logistics Center is a union shop.... e.g. the same folks who are on strike.

On the Koch dealer website does your show "In Transit" or "In Production"?

Toyota also uses Terminal 4 at Portland, OR.

Since 1971, Toyota has been a fixture at Terminal 4, handling more than 10,000 vehicles per month. Dockworkers and others in the auto supply chain process the imports in Portland before they are sent to dealerships across the country.

Mine has been at Port Newark for the past couple of weeks but interestingly today I noticed that my vehicle is no longer searchable on Toyota’s inventory page or dealer’s site. I hope this means that it’s in-transit to my dealer, but weird it would disappear.

Same here. I'm fairly certain that "Build (phase)" means it's at the port logistics center being inspected/processed and getting accessories installed, and "Transit (phase)" means it's left the port and on the way to the dealer. If that's accurate, we won't see a change from "Build" to "Transit" until they clear the port. As I previously opined, I don't think anything vehicles in the "Build" phase will be moving at this point until the strike is over. (which truly sucks).

Mine says transit. Only takes a couple of hours from Newark to Allentown by truck.

There are a lot of variables. My 4R dealer was in Stroudsburg, PA. It waited at port for 3 days for a train ride, was on the train for a day, and then it rode a truck to the dealer (another day). The dealer took a day for the final preparation.

I doesn't appear to still be functional, but https://toyota-tracker.com/ used to have that level of detail.

Interesting....mine has been sitting in port in a "build phase" for a couple of weeks.... and now just this morning it changed to "in transit". I don't even want to get my hopes up at this point.

The strike has been suspended. The current contract is extended until until Jan. 15 while negotiations continue and workers are returning tomorrow. That should pretty much cover all remaining Gen 5 Rs.

That’s what I got. Wasn’t planning on getting black, silver has always been my color, but that’s what this dealer had coming in. I think Midnight black metallic is going to be nice though, with those purple and blue flakes in it. Why did you decide to sell the 22?

As far as black goes, I like Midnight Black Metallic on the 4R. To my eyes it presents as pure black and it held up very nicely for me for 3 years with monthly runs through my local carwash. I had a 2014 (or '15?) Tundra that was a different black....I can't remember what they called it at the time..... but I never liked it. Lots of blue, purple, and gold metallic flake in it.

I bought the 4R after having 8 consecutive pickups as my daily driver (4 Tacoma and 4 Tundras) and I always missed having a pickup. On a whim I traded in my 4R on an F150 Raptor and regretted the decision almost immediately. Moral to the story?.... boring, simple, reliable, and practical is a good thing. I would have bought a new GX550 but after looking at one last week I realized it would be the same software-driven video game experience as the Raptor.
