Do you wave at other 4Runners?

Was at Costco the other day getting out of my bone stock ORP when a young fella in a heavily modded ORP parked a couple spaces over from me, as we were walking to the entrance I said “you have a nice looking rig there” he smiled big and said “ hey thanks”. I should start waving at other 4Runners but my truck is kinda punk compared to most. Might have to at least powder coat the rims satin black to blend in. Called a local powder coating place and she said $75.00 each w/o tires and valve stems. I thought that wasn’t too bad.

Don't ever be afraid to wave - worst that happens is they don't wave back. I guess it's not a "jeep thang" but who cares.

This is my first 4runner and it took me years to get where I am with mods. I don't care if it's stock, I would wave back. I get excited about others who get excited about the 4runner

When I lay down and close my eyes each night, there is not one time that I think of the cats that didn't raise up and wave to me in passing. Tis not an issue, as I am not aware of what they are enduring in their own atmosphers. Maybe they have tons of questions and problems that they are pondering.. Not for me to decide.

I still enjoy seeing the other 4Runners going up and down the road while running errands.

Or in my case, just scratching their butt and unable to get a hand up in time

I had a CBR 600 RR and same thing. All the sport bikes would wave back but sometimes the cruisers did not

It's the weekend warrior cruiser guys who only ride once a month or so and bought a harley because they think it's cool and are insecure.

The real harley guys out on road trips wave from the other side of the freeway when there's a 30 foot wide dirt patch between the the highway directions / lanes.

The cannabis store down the street from me is owned by a couple that drives a mildly modded T4R.
When I go there to get some smoke, we always talk 4R junk. If/where they've been recently and what not.
And when I talk about my TJ and rocky, narrow trails, they stay away from those. And I say the same thing. My 4R sees the easier and scenic trails that my Wife and I like to do. The TJ is for the trails that my Wife stays home for. Fine with me. She doesn't the sound of rock rash.

Time to make a run to the smoke shop.

Oh and AFA waving at other 4R's, always on a trail but not in town.
My next door neighbors have 2 4R's. The Wife has a MGM Limited and the Daughter has a White SR5. There are 2 others on our dead end street that we wave to but we/I wave to all the neighbors.

'Member 10 years or so ago when EVERY 18 wheeler, and then soon many other vehicle on the road, had that spring loaded hand suction cupped to the windshield?

It looked like the driver was waving.

I hated those dern things, especially after seeing the first million or two...

Always wanted to cut three fingers and the thumb off of one...

I was heavily into Buells for about 5 years and didn't get respect from either sport bike or Harley riders. It was cool to be the outcast.

Buells unfortunately got a bad rap back in the day but was a very nice bike. Not sure everyone understood all of the engineering firsts that went into those bikes. Wish they survived the Harley days.

I ride a 1996 BMW R 1200 GS, most other bikers wave except only about 40 % of Harley drivers. If stopped at red light they ignore me completely.

Not too many “real” harley riders around here when I used to ride Yamahas or Kawasakis. I used to wave like Forrest Gump when a big gaggle of Harleys passed by. Often I’d see someone reflexively start to wave before they pulled back…. I think they were afraid of getting kicked out of the pirate club.

It’s a damn shame how Harley treated Buell under their ownership. I think the Harley pirates on the street took that as marching orders and basically looked down on them. So freakin juvenile.

Buell was a cool company. Their first models were something else from a design standpoint, and few bikes made me drool like those first Lightnings.

When the company was still young, I was riding my KLR 650 through East Troy, WI when I drove by their factory, totally by chance. So I decided to stop, asked at the front desk if they ever do any tours. The lady asks me to hold on a minute, makes a phone call, and tells me that an engineer will be with me shortly to show me around. How cool is that!!!! He then walked me through a tour of the entire plant, right then and there!

I never liked some of the quality aspects of their early bikes, but that spur of the moment tour really cemented them as rock stars in my eyes.

I haven't ridden in about 15 years but every spring when the bikes come out from hiding that itch still comes back up...

Rolling down the street on Saturday in the UP, came across a convoy of Toyotas, all modded up nicely.

Got a friendly light flash from one of them, most likely due to the fact that my relatively stock rig was caked in mud. :D

I have a 2012 wrangler I off road and enjoy the wave with other wranglers. Also have a Triumph Bonneville and low wave to all two wheel cycles.

I now have a T4R Limited (I know, the horror) don’t wave at any others, it’s a different type of community.

T4R will be my off road as the wrangler dies.

Just my opinion on the three different vehicles discussed here. Enjoyed reading all the comments.

Hmmm... Sounds good... but waving may also be misinterpreted as having interest in the driver of the other vehicle.

Only in Jeep. It’s a Jeep thing after all. FWIW, the Wrangler community was always great and both my Wranglers served me well over the years mechanically. My kids are off to college with their own cars and as a result, it was time to say goodbye to my 2020 2 door Rubicon and use the money for other toys. I’ll miss the wave but not the ducks. Lol

Yeah, I’m thinking it might be a gender thing. I had a random guy come up to chat about the vehicle while me and my husband were parked at a truck stop. It was funny. But I’m also like a human golden retriever and I basically like everyone.
