Hello my name is nate, im new to the forum. I have a 92 automatic. I want to swap my 3.0 3vze with the 3.0 om617. I know i need to swap my tranny to an r150f first and then get a connection for the tranny to link to the engine. Want to know the process and details of the job. If anyone has done this id like some advice and insight. Pics would be great. I have yet to find a diagram for this specific swap. If anyone knows of one please share.
Picture of my runner for attention.

Subbed for shenanigans and insight on how this will go down. Where are you getting the motor?

Im not interested in powe gain. I know itd be easy but im looking for more torque and fuel mileage. My runner gets 12-14 highway and with a turbo diesel swap id get a good 18-20 city and close to 28 highway

Thats why. Im 33x12.50xr15 with 5.29 geared on an automatic.but yeah the diesel om617 dishes out way more torque. About the same hp and also way way better mileage.

I get 21mpg in my 88 with the 5speed so that never crossed my mind. I consider 21mpg bad ass since my 2014 4runner gets 16mpg on a good day.

No the guy I bought it from had new gears put in. I want to go down to 488 gears. I believe the Factory gears for my year were 456 gears

I smoked my pinion bearing on this last trip so I need to pull the trigger and just get a new 3rd member with locker from ecgs so I don't have to bother rebuilding

That is my exact problem right now my opinion bearing is going out I can hear and feel the deceleration vibrate on freeway speeds. I already changed my U-joints and rebalance my drive shaft balance tires rotated tires and done and alignment those all needed to be done but I was just hoping that one of those would be the culprit for the vibration then I dug into it some more before I threw any parts at it and figured out that it was my pinion bearing and I don't feel like rebuilding it because I want to switch gears anyway so I'm probably just going to order and new 3rd member with 488 and an ARB air Locker. I currently have the stock axle on my 92 and it does not have a locker at all so I really want a rear differential lock.

@4WALKER i am not sure at the moment. I am still tossing back and forth which engine I will use. Im leaning toward a om617 but if i can possibly get my hands on a 1ktz then i will go with that
