There are so many videos telling those don't work. But who knows? We can't ask the deer whether they hear or not. Why not stick them since they are sooo damn cheap. Stick them on your roof rails and no one notices. I use brush-less car washes and never had problems.

So, I had a deer run in front of me today. It was a good distance away on the edge then it ran across full speed. Seemed it was having an effect…

Another deer just ran in front of me. But a lot farther away. May be attracting them.

We had those on my wife’s car 5 years ago and hit a deer. So I am going to say no based on my experience. I wish there was something that did work. There are way to many deer in my area.

Unfortunately, no, they don't work; and in the case of fawns, might even more so attract than they deter.

Wish they did, tons of deer around us too. They like to hang out in the ditches right at the side of the road at night, making it feel even more sketchy. I've learned to just keep a close watch for the eyes at night (they shine bright like reflective markers at night) or any sudden movement/shadows.

Yeah, a friend of mine put them on her car after the first deer strike. That car has since been hit by deer three more times (one of the times, her son was driving).

So I'd say they do not work.

I have deer all around where I live and never tried them b/c the old timers always said they didn't work.. but can't see how they could hurt to try? I just drive slower and keep an eye out to the sides of the roads, especially on my bike.

That’s the problem. It’s iffy if they work, and it’s hard to say whether or not they can make the situation worse!

The next 4 weeks are gonna be it. The rut starts here next week or so. So, be alert, when one crosses prob another, and slow down, try to do 5 above speed limit. A huge eight pointer was laying belly up down the road.

Lived in MT & WY for over 40 years. Only had one deer strike during that time due to mood altered/ sleep deprived state (younger and dumber). Drove back and forth across MT/ WY border for 20 years having an office in each state. Can't say that I found the whistles to be useful but used them anyway until they fell off.
I found the evening and early morning to be the peak times for deer movement. Learned deer migratory paths, stayed attentive and looked for their eye reflections. No strikes after the first one.

They may or may not work for deer, but if they work(?) they're certain to get the attention of K9's ;)

Just get a bumper!! Works better than a whistle.

Pinstripes, lots of em. Plus a couple dents.
I think loud tires work better. Knock on wood.

Looks like sometimes we need lot of luck.
If they come towards the vehicle after hitting on coming vehicle or decide to jump high bumpers might not work like in below examples.. :(:(:(

    I would think so.

Ever try to find the source of a high pitched sound? It's not always easy. Now make it ultrasonic and you're just confusing deer who are dumb as rocks to start with.

Loud muffler or tires are probably the way to go.

nope. In my Titan, I have loud tires and exhaust. Didn’t stop a deer from t-boning me. It literally ran smack into my driver door.

I think in most strikes, the deer was likely spooked by something and is fleeing at full speed when it crosses the road. In that state, it doesn’t matter what sort of sounds are being blasted in advance; it’s not paying attention.

From what I've seen and read, most hits ARE on the side of the vehicle. And often the deer is following another one which made it successfully. So yeah, slow the hell down if a deer crosses in front of you.

Probably, if it wasn’t beat up too bad and seemed salvageable.
