Dashboard decals!

Hey everyone! We got tired of the blandness and that weird little area between the top of the dash and the glove box. Just made a "4RUNNER" decal for it and am offering them here at the forum price just like I do with my other decals. There are more designs coming this/next week. Mountain, desert and beach scenes are planned. Reach out if you want something custom. If we have time etc we can probably hook you up depending on what life is doing at the moment haha.
For pre-designed decals, we are looking at $12 each. I can make them in gloss black, flat black, yellow, orange, or red.

@MyWyfsRnnr - I have a better idea. Why not making a decal to cover the whole dashboard piece to hide does well known cracks? They sale a plastic cover for that purpose but they are cheaply made and not a perfect fit either. Below is a pic of one of the worse one I have seen so far.

 

I added a 4runner emblem to be like the new TRD Tundra.

 

That is pretty bad. I could cut a piece that covers the whole thing but making it look good would be on the installer. I will try to mess with it tonight and see if I can make something look good.

 

It might be best to use the same decal material from the hood scoop as well. You want to have the best quality as possible for the interior of the 4R etc.

 

I only use the best! Hahaha! Really though I only use Oracal 951, 651 or the 3M. I never use the cheap stuff. No point in saving a couple pennies at the cost of quality for sure.

Chris, did you ever get a sheet of the topo vinyl for this dash area? I think that would be a nice accent.

 

unfortunately, I am still without a topo source. My old supplier doubled the cost of the bulk material so I am still working with local suppliers. Having a supplier that I could not drive to didn't work (lessons learned). It was hard to resolve damaged bulk material, and I'm also stuck with $150 worth of black background with pink topo lines because their printer did not do red very well haha. If I get a new supplier figured out I will offer everything in topo again for sure.

I have tried a few cuts but haven't locked anything down yet that I will stand behind. I will work on it some more tomorrow and see if I can lock something down. I've been working on getting the other designs for the same area.

I'd be interested in something that covers the whole thing as well. Mine isn't damaged like that - the glove compartment cover took the brunt of my kiddo's shoes when I took her offroading. Would like some kind of topo cover for that piece though - not sure what words or lettering I'd like. Would probably get a hood scoop cover with the same material to help with glare. Black with red topo lines - is that still expensive/hard to get?

 

This is the latest design. The full cover just does not look great. There is a little gap between the "brushed" and the gloss edge. It ends up being more of a wrap job than a decal job. I am happy to cut them slightly oversized and make them "Trim to fit". As for topo... I have not found a local supplier that I will put my name on as of yet. We are talking with a supplier a few states away that is promising but I am a little fish so I am having trouble getting a good price still

Got it!... I'm not truly a fan of adding any lettering or mountain decal design, especially if that plastic piece looks like crap and is all scratched up. Im not sure as to why that piece looks like that over time, I believe due to the heat(?).

 

Not to highjack your thread but what machine do you use for cutting these and how do you like it?
My wife keeps asking about a cutter for her craft room but she mainly works with fabrics or paper. If i found one that is good for vinyl too then i might get some use out of it myself.
My window tint guy has a machine to feed from a roll and precut for him on most vehicles. It's cool to see but way bigger than i want.

 

I use a 36" US vinyl cutter. It is an older unit and I have to replace it soon. Their prices have come way down but be warned. US cutter for example sells their cutter for $400 and their software for $600+. With all of the software I need to do the things I do with it I'm into it $2000+. I will not be using a US cutter product in the future. The old bait and switch does not sit well with me
