First half of my bday present is installed just waiting for the second half to arrive.

i have to say, first impressions: this thing feels solid! I got the steel skid and even though it is heavy I feel like it can withstand a beating for sure.

stay tuned for more to come very soon

With all the trails near by being closed all spring I am getting cabin fever from just being at home.

anyone know of some trails near the IE that make for a good day trip?

Nice progress on the build, how are the lights holding up? Been eyeing a pair since my stocks are yellow and peeling.

the lights are actually doing great even with all the rain we had here in SoCal but before I installed them I put clear silicone all around the edge to make sure I didn’t get water inside. All the videos I saw said that was the best way to protect the lights and make sure they last

Some recent updates.. added a para cord handle so my wife could reach the hatch to close it. F52760BF-E3F4-48E9-B214-CE902CEEDA86.jpg

reached the 200,000 mile mark. This was a big personal accomplishment since I bought the 4runner 8 years ago with 115,000 miles and in that time I went through some tough times where I almost had the 4runner repo’d. But now I’m at a point where I can buy the accessories that I want for the 4runner and not have it hurt my wallet. Here’s to another 75,000 more miles of smiles and fun.

I went on a trail ride with a coworker and when I finally let him take the lead he took us down a trail not meant for trucks and SUV’s but meant for dirt bikes. Needless to say it got too narrow to handle and we paid the price. I don’t blame him as he was unfamiliar with the trail but just wanted to give some backstory

Ouch! Busted window and body damage. That sucks. Did you already replace the window?

Sometimes we get in those situations, you were able to drive it home and looks like you got most of it replaced already. Still sucks for sure though.

ya it sucked and it killed the vibe for sure but I wasn’t too stressed about it cuz it’s all items I could replace. And yes I agree sometimes we can’t avoid trail damage but I was glad that we were still able to drive home and no one was hurt. Just our egos lol.

Now it has some character! If mine wasn't white it would be a nightmare. It's pinstriped so bad but the natural white doesn't have a clear coat so way less noticeable.

Newest addition to Darthrunner. I needed new ball joints and decided to just replace to UCA’s all together. Steering vibrations have greatly been reduced and the steering response is a lot tighter than before.

You need to get some 14” 700lb springs for those coil overs. I had the same preload before and now they’re basically not preloaded at all. This is what I mean. Rides much better.

That actually looks like a good idea! Do you have a front bumper or any added weight to the front? I only ask because I don’t have anything added to the front and I’ve always been worried that 700lb springs would be too stiff

Yes I have a steel bumper, steel skid plates and sliders. Do you plan to add any of that stuff down the road? If not these might work but I have no experience.

Thanks for the advice!! I have skid plates and sliders but I don’t plan on getting a front bumper, at least not anytime soon. The king springs would probably be a good idea though now that you mention it.

I was constantly bottoming out with the preload. Bumps sucked. Now it’s nice and soft and no more body roll since I don’t run a sway bar. But the body roll reduction is because of the added weight being handled by the heavier springs better, not the length.

That makes a lot of sense, I appreciate the advice that’s definitely gonna be a move I look into next.

did you swap out the coils yourself?

I did but used a decent compressor my buddy had. It’s a stand one not the little clamps.
