DarthRunner build and bs thread

Been wanting to do one of these to document the progress of my adventures for a long time so here it goes.

I bought the 4Runner in June of 2015. Some of my first mods were lights, k&n drop in filter, exhaust and tires.

i started with some 265 70 17

 

First trip to the snow in big bear with the new tires




Ordered some T4R stickers for added hp


Took to family to skyline drive in big bear 6/27/2017

 

Added roof top curved light bar 8/30/2017

 

Replaced the front cv axles cuz the old boots were ripped 9/9/2017

 

Nighttime cleghorn run 10/28/2017

 

Decided to take a trip to Lytle creek 11/5/2017

 

Took the family camping in Holcomb valley 9/2/2017

 

Went to calico to play around for my birthday 11/30/2017 had a blast and I really wanna go back

 

Finally got my ditch light brackets from @cbioffroad so I went to Lytle creek to test out the newly installed lights 04/04/2019

 

Went to my baldy after a good storm to get snow for the kids... right after the picture I ended up getting myself stuck lol 02/08/2019

 

Took the darthrunner to big bear and did gold fever trail with the kids for some fun 06/16/2019

 

Had some fun off the 395 and I-15 11/03/2019

 

Last Offroad trip before my front lift. Took the darthrunner to Lytle creek again 01/14/2020

 

Now for the fun part. Icon standard travel coilovers 03/04/2020

 

Had to test out the new shocks

 

Tried to take my boys to the snow with very VERY little success lol

 

It was time for new tires, Kenda klevers 285/70 r17. Had to do some trimming of the fender liner and still need to adjust the preload for more height cuz the tires still rub when flexed and turning

Rear lift completes this stage of my upgrades Toytec boss aluma series rear shocks with HD Superflex coils. After 2 days of driving I like the way they feel they are stiffer than stock but the don’t feel so stiff that it breaks ur back.

next stage of mods will be armor then from there Probably lockers and a regear but we’ll see where the build goes

Went to Lytle creek then did a short section of cleghorn trail just to stretch the rear suspension for the first time 7-14



The flex on the Toytec coils and shocks is awesome

Decided to do one of the trails in Lytle creek for a relaxing drive... also found a good spot to flex the suspension out

 

Took my boys to Lytle creek... tried 3N06A but chickened out and didn’t go past the water crossing. Then we went up 3N06 to yellow post site #6 to chill for a bit before heading back down

 

Just a little update: today I adjusted my coilovers to bring the front end up a little bit

I did 4 turns on the passenger side and 5 on the drivers side but I prob should have done 6 or 7 cuz the driver side still sits lower than the passenger side. Oh well it’s something to do next time I wanna tinker with it

 

Just put in an order for some rock sliders from 4xinnovations. Will post some pics up when I get them installed

 

Took my boys out to cleghorn yesterday. First trip out since before they closed the forests. It was a much needed therapy session lol

 

Went to big bear and took my boys exploring down skyline divide trail. It was a pretty easy trail but still had fun

 

Rock sliders just came in now I just have to see who’s going to put them on. Can’t wait to see what they look like once they’re on!
