I have the factory heated/ cooled seats. It seems when sitting in the seat with the fan on I can't hear the fan. But if I lean forward I can hear and feel the fans. But when I sit back I can hear or feel it. Is it normal?

Probably you are. Just covering up where the fans are so you can’t hear it. I can hear the all the time with the radio down.

Normal, and they aren’t actually cooled, they are just ventilated.

    Nope.

The ventilation actually works the opposite way, it’s suction. It works by pulling the heat away from you and blows it out the bottom of the seat.

Man, living in Vegas and dealing with the summers here, I wish I had ventilation in my seats.

Turn it on and hold a piece of paper up to the backrest, see if sucks it down and holds it or if it blows it away.

But all ventilated seats nowadays operate off section.

Mine doesn't seem to work very well while sitting. When I lift up I hear the fan. And when I lean forward I hear the fan. But sitting, and sitting back I don't hear it. And it's not very cool.

Does it use the air in the truck to cool? So say its warm is that all I'm expecting is warm air?

you got it. and heaven forbid should you drop a massive paint pealing fart. :crapstorm:

you do need to have the air conditioner running and it is useful if the outside temps are over 80 degrees. I live in Texas and have the nautical blue color which is quite dark and the truck gets warm in the summer so the seats do help on getting in the truck or if you are on a long road trip and its continually over 100 degrees outside.

My understanding is it's on the Limited series only.

I would think that one could purchase the seats and controls and wire it in to an non-limited truck, but not sure of what that would take.

This is the only thing that does piss me off about Toyota -- that if you want cooled seats you HAVE to get the limited on the 4Runner or the Platinum on the Sequoia.

It would be nice to see these on other levels of trim, especially in Texas.
