Looks like they changed up the tread pattern a bit compared to the iconic pattern they've been running for ages.

They were on BFGs front page in April but disappeared when they released the new HD tire. I called BFG and they said they only had the two sizes you show available.

They are going to be on the ranger raptor which is great because it'll be offered in size 285 70 17 c rated.

Looks like the treads are much closer on the new tire to make it more on road friendly tire?

I wonder if they have done anything on the weight department. KO2 wasn't bad either, C loads are lighter than some of the leading standard load tire.

I wonder why some of the top trim vehicles use BFG KO2 (maybe now it would be KO3)? Eg - Wrangler Rubicon extreme 35 package, 392, Ford F150 Raptor, Bronco Raptor, etc.. Are BFG KO2 that good vs many 4runner owner on this forum hates them?

I wondered the same. On Tacoma World where I hung out in the past, and on Tacoma FB pages the KO2 was not loved very much - yet they come on a lot of vehicles stock.

Anything, or almost anything is better than the stock tires that come on 4runners or Tacomas. Therefore what comes stock on a vehicle doesn't carry a lot of weight with me.

I have to agree with @Spare Parts here. OEM tires are generally hot garbage. Even the upgraded PRO tires (Terra Grappler?) seem to get mixed reviews at best.

That said, I think KO2's get some undue negative press. For the first few years, they were the bee's knees. Then, the market caught up, and suddenly they were overrated junk.

I found mine to be pretty good at a lot of things, which is exactly what I expected. The tread pattern did seem like it could trap water and hydroplane, but I didn't have any issues with that.

Hopefully the KO3 can improve on what I still consider a good tire. I'm curious how long it will be before we hear anything more from BFG.

Seems like 4runners owners hate them for 2 reasons, poor wet traction when tread life is at around 50%( I had this issue with the original ko), and that they are hard to balance(balancing issues).

But there are plenty of 4runners running ko2s.
