You seem to be reading my mind :D

Love the TRD Pro rims w/ KO2's on a silver Limited. Likely what I'll be going with on mine. Have been reading all sorts of "negative press" on this board recently about the KO2's in the rain, but I loved them on both my old '99 Jeep XJ and my '01 Ford Expedition. Zero issues in the rain.

Same! I’ve got about 300,000 miles on BFG KO/KO2s and have had ZERO issues in the rain. They’re also quieter and smoother than the new 20” Yokahama Geolanders that I took off.

Any rubbing with the Pro rims/KO2's in 265/70-17?

Sorry, this is the last I'll bug you for today - LOL

Barely. Like a graze. Twice in the few weeks I've had the tires, I've heard one tire just kiss the front of the plastic fender liner. It happens reverse at full lock - but only sometimes. It's not even worth getting out the heat gun.

Yep - I'm having the same behavior with my Pro rims and stock size Toyos. I'm not even sure mine requires full lock for it to happen. Who would've though 11mm change in offset would cause such a problem. I'm still on the fence about seeing if a heat gun is necessary; I just don't want to see the small screw in the fender liner that the tire rubs against get yanked out or see the tire get damaged.

In a world where Wranglers and Broncos come with (optional) 35s, our 4Runners max out at 31s. That really is odd. @TimGinCentralNJ I've noticed the rub (still just a graze) does seem to happen just before full lock and only in reverse.

I would say it's as expected. The Wrangler and Bronco are marketed as off road vehicles that can drive on road. The 4Runner is a street vehicle that can go off road. Most vehicles are built with small(er) wheel openings, just like the 4Runner. Out of all the vehicles we get in the US, the Bronco and Wrangler are really the only ones that have those larger wheel openings. Even the Bronco has small(er) wheel openings, but Ford can get away with a 35" tire, barely, and they lose articulation doing it.

The 4Runner is a better vehicle for 95% (arbitrary number I'm using) of driving. So, for the less than 1% of the buyers that take their vehicles on less than 1% of the trails, less than 1% of the time, the 4Runner is built with smaller tires than they want. They have tall enough tires for everyone else though. The other thing that I think is often overlooked, is many of the mods, including tire size, don't help that much. People are chasing diminishing returns. A rig on 31" tires can go almost everywhere a rig on 35" tires can go, the difference being 2" of ground clearance. The 4Runner has 9.6" ground clearance (TRD Off Road and Pro models), and the Jeep Wrangler has 9.7", 10.8" (Rubicon). That ground clearance is the difference between 31" tires on the 4R and 33" tires on the JLR.

What Toyota could do, is move the body mount back an inch, or redesign it. But, that would only impact, in a meaningful way, a couple people. You'd see a bunch of people running 35" tires, but almost none of those people would need the additional inch of ground clearance over a 285/70/17 tire. Maybe that's been addressed with the 6-gen?

So, I don't think it's odd that we get a 31" tire. It's a pretty big tire compared to what people were running 15+ years ago when the 5-gen came out, and more importantly, it gets almost everyone where they need to go.

@Papa G our 4Runners share a look - did you debadge your ORP? I ditched the plastichrome "Limited" badge when the running boards, 20" wheels and minivan tires came off.

So now I have a request. No rush... When you have a chance, would you shoot a straight-on side pic of your truck. If I keep the 4Runner, I may do the rocker panel mod (swapping the Limited to the non-Limited parts) and do some bumper trimming. Your truck is like a peek into the future!

Did you have to install a capacitor to get the LED's to not hyperflash? Which ones did you buy?

I almost ordered those wheels for mine! I searched the internet high and low and couldn't find a picture of a classic silver with the gun metal TRD wheels. They look sharp!

Yes...I only removed the TRD OR badges. My 4Runner came with blacked out badges. I was going to remove the 4Runner badge on the rear but opted to leave it. I added the blackout covers for the chrome bars on the grill. I really like the look and will pass on the Heritage grill for now.

I received the bulbs today. Will try and install tomorrow. I purchased the Lasfit T3 series in amber for the front and rear. I did not opt for the Switchbacks for the front. These are the upgraded version that are plug and play and aren't supposed to hyper flash. All of the 4Runner reviews I've read stated no hyper flash.
