We seldom get more than a surface view, but a sound prediction on what's happening behind the scenes would most likely be - we ain't seen nothing yet.

Replacement workstation just cost me 4 grand to build. That’s twice what the old one cost.

Not chip related but news just said the next shortage will be bad. Porta potty for large gatherings. Said there is a shortage and most all the drivers went to different careers so even if they get them they don’t have people to move them.
Going to a concert? besure there’s trees near by

Witaf would there be a portapotty shortage? I’m sure drivers for transporting those can be courted

Just what I heard on the news.
Also people still are not wanting to work. Right now there are enough job openings to employ everyone currently on unemployment. Why would they work when .gov is giving free handouts

Beyond the pride that comes with being productive and contributing to society and making your own way, most of those jobs don’t pay a living wage and when someone takes them, they lose their benefits, which are enough to live on. Who in their right mind would make that trade? I sure as hell wouldn’t. Better to keep my kids fed and my lights on.

Then, the jobs that do pay well require prior specialization or education that most people just don't have. The problem is way more complex than jobs just being available.

also Hahahahhahahaha. How tf is there a porta potty shortage?

I thought a lot of benefits had ended at least covid related and that people would be back at work. I don’t understand how people make do on unemployment since you still have to pay taxes on that money, from what I’ve heard.
Personally, I can’t imagine being out of work for long- even at a break even point I think. I’d rather work to know I’m doing something and creating the possibility of moving up in my career rather than sitting at home withering away on assistance. We’re living in a truly fuct up time. Scares the crap out of me as to what were leaving our kids future/generations to fix.

Same in Illinois, guy at work said they just extended his wife's UE 3 more months. She hasn't worked since start of covid and the offset of child care makes it worthwhile to stay home.
They need to stop feeding the leaching people. Gov been spending monopoly money like its free or something

The essential working folks taxes can only cover so much. I saw a stat somewhere that showed the lower unemployment rates in states that stopped the bonus benefits early.

It’s worked well for Cuba and Venezuela!

And we are worried about just chip shortages and lumber prices?

We should just kiss up to the Russians also and ask them kindly not to mess with our oil pipelines.

I love how people blame the workers. Why not blame the companies that make billions off the back of workers while paying them a pittance.

Part of the problem here is that manufacturers shifted to a "just in time" build/operation model. In other words, they don't carry a large amount of inventory and "forecast" their immediate needs. If the supply chain dries up for what ever reason, you have trickle down delays. This method was designed to reduce the amount of funding that a business has to invest keeping large inventories and to help manage obsolescence. Gone are the Radio Shack "Where is - As Is" sales!

It’s funny you you say that, I have had an issue with a company recently, shared my experience online and have had people tell me it’s my fault, not the company who took my order and shipped it off to someone else, just to keep making money. If someone wants something, they don’t really care about the company and what they do. But when they don’t want anything from the company, they are all over them. Folks need to hold companies accountable, our wallets will do the talking if we let them.

That great manufacturing process coined and shared by Toyota. Who actually found a work around. They require some of their suppliers to have x months of good for them at all time. Thus, it’s the suppliers money tied up in materials, not Toyota.

I was also told it had to do with companies not wanting to pay inventory tax. Smaller inventory, less tax.

Heck the Toyota dealer near me had a used Challenger in the showroom last night when I drove by. I guess things are bad when you put a used car in your showroom from another manufacturer.
