I just had the same issue this weekend where I used a 12v air compressor and it blew out my fuse for all my 12v in my vehicle. I just tried the 15amp P/O in the cabin as pictured above ( not fuse under hood ) and swapped it with spare 15 and now all my 12v work again! Thanks for this thread to help me debug where.

Oh my, thank you ALL for this thread!

Going down the rabbit hole of where to add a fuse tap for an Auxbeam 8 gang on-off control switch panel. Definitely, definitely do not want to install on anything remotely critical. (No INJ, IGN or ECU to name a few.) Really leaning toward the 15A P/OUTLET on the under dash fuse panel.

However, still not sure what to make of one non-fused slot. Waiting for my circuit tester to arrive today and see if that is supplied with power... If so, would that not make the ideal candidate?? (Of course, I usually find out about a secret hidden something that would trip me up.
    :ohsnap:

Learned so much in the past few days!
I'll post again with some pictures.

Now I have to figure out how to make it a little smaller… (copy and pasting from iPad)

I think the non-fused slot is for the optional automatic running boards. If that’s the case I would imagine that slot to be always hot. Let us know what you find out with the circuit tester.

I have a 2013 4runner and this is where I had to patch in for them to come on with headlights. They blinked with my turn signals when I piggyback the DRL/signals on mine. I had to test light them with ignition in run, engine off to find one. I could probably wire into my marker lights, but it's working.

So, a couple of notes about fuses and fuse taps:
The 5th gen uses “Low Profile Mini” fuses.

Fuse taps can be put in the wrong way:

Thank you for mentioning this.! While researching these things I came across that detail - very important.

To be honest, I’m dragging my feet on the final connections. I keep coming across stories here where people have experienced major car computer malfunctions when tapping a fuse. I really, really don’t want problems on this new car. That said, I would guess that the majority don’t, and it is just those who do that we hear about.

I’m only adding the Auxbeam controller, and I’m guessing it’s a small draw, but can’t seem to find any real data on that.

So, all bolted up, and ready to connect. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated!
