So my otherwise near-pristine 2019 SR5 has an ugly dent in the liftgate that can't be pulled. Replacing with paint and labor quote is ~$1700, so I thought I'd be slick and find a liftgate off an otherwise totalled 4Runner at a salvage yard for a little less...I mean silver 5th gens are a dime a dozen in the southeast...figured it would be easy but I'm striking out everywhere. Anyone else been in this situation?

I saw a totaled (front end) 2021 runner today on FB. I wonder where the truck will go ?

I run a scrap yard in the northeast and from what I see up here, 4Runners are one of the hardest vehicles to come by. They sell at a premium at salvage auctions. We just took in a 1998 in prestine condition and the vehicle is already almost half parted out in 2 weeks. For a 5th gen tailgate complete, I’d expect it to cost you 800-1000 easily. Just FYI

Sounds like we better be careful not to bend our Toys. ;)

Upon further review, after a quick nationwide search, these are going for $1800 used across the board. OP the struggle is real buddy. Unless you get lucky and someone doesn't know what they have.
