Can I cut this off?

I havent had any problems with it. Ive been over a good amount of rough and shes fine

 

Yeah I have a pretty fat 33 on mine, I think the combo with the spacers just doesnt work. Oh well

 

@Hashkaash ur good man ignore noise in the comments, wise as it may be. Ur already at 3.5” on fat 33’s w/ spacers. Just bend the fender mount flanges over everyone does it, and get ur shop buddy to help you confirm body mount contact.

can you please tell us what exact wheel spec and what exact tire spec your running?
do you have a suspension lift or spacer lift or combination of the two

33x12.50R17 Tires
3.5 Adjusted lift with 2 inch wheel spacers
Just suspension loft

 

Those 2" spacers are not helping your situation at all. Take them off and see what happens. May not solve the rubbing completely, but it will be noticeably reduced.

 

Ya exactly, 2” spacers are big and could even make 265’s rub.. 12.5” fat 33’s are more rare on 5th gens, could rub under compression with those alone as well

 

Oh yeah for sure. Definitely worth a shot to try and fit though. They're only going to get bigger from here so. Ill see how they go without the spacers. Im gonna get a Body chop tomorrow anyway so we will see what happens. I plan on getting either -33 or -56 offset wheels so the spacers will test it out

An alignment might help you too.
I had awful rub. Maxed out caster to push wheels as far forward as possible while still having 0 camber angle and it solved rubbing. Had to reshape and reposition plastic liner in front of tire a little but that was easy.

youre trying to fix a problem (spacers) by changing a whole bunch of stuff. Ditch the spacers and you wont have to do 99% of the stuff you mentioned above.

mine is a 2” lift with 285/70/17 on factory trail special rims. No trim, no body cuts or hammering, i have all mudflaps in place and no rubbing at full lock.

I think OP tho said the spacers are test for up to -56 wheels. As I said he’s bad man lol

Yeah, it’s hard to get rid of the spacers if the whole point is the massive poke look. It’s not my personal taste, but I can respect the idea of wanting a certain look (or stance, as the youts say these days).

The only thing that made me raise a spock eyebrow is the 3.5 in of lift. That doesn’t leave much down travel if you’re off roading, especially in front. The increased rear pinion and U-joint angles might also result in early failure.

One interesting thing I recently learned regarding negative offset was that besides the impact on wheel bearings and steering, the upper ball joints and the UCA long-bolt (and shock tower) will experience large increases in lateral forces. The spindle will be transmitting these side forces, which will also means it’s much easier to bend it as well. Just mentioning this because the OP seems like he does off-roading, so it’s probably good to be a gentle with things as possible and avoid “full-send” while off road.

Eta: if you’re not 100 percent sure you want the massive offset Hawaiian look, then don’t do it. It’s probably a bigger financial and maintainance commitment than most mods you can do if you off-road. And it’s probably fair to say that massive poke will make it vulnerable to breakage off-road. You might get away without breaking things if your 4runner is only used on the street. But even so, hitting some potholes can be worse than anything you experience off road, which can still lead to the same bent spindles, bent long bolts, cracked shock tower brackets, broken ball joints, or power steering failures.

@Hashkaash hopefully you didn’t use red loctite on ur spacers like me I plan to heat and remove spacers when I go to small 35’s

 

Thankfully not, I knew theyd be somewhat temporary. I am able to just take them off. Anyways, its time to go hit my trail. I really dont have a good feeling about today and its not sitting right lol. Maybe the price I pay is coming sooner that I thought. Im 20, I have a lot to learn and I believe that experience is how you succeed. Im willing to take a risk

 

@Hashkaash given what you are trying to accomplish, maybe you should be considering a long travel suspension. Just as a spring lift is superior to spacers, long travel suspension is superior to wheel spacers.
