    Yes abducted.

Like this woman, the victim just decided that her and her kids got in a strangers car because the cats were off her vehicle and she didn't feel comfortable driving it. She could have been human traffic'd same with her kids all because her car was louder and polluting the environment more.

Kudos to the OP for being a good dude, but this woman, her personal security is a joke

Heart warming story and now I’m off to buy these cat shields. I’ve been looking at them for some time and reading this thread of responses is giving me all the confidence to buy them. I have the Cali raised roof rack and love it! Great company.

I am wondering whether driving in mud with these cat covers will result in mud getting packed between the cat cover and the cat itself, causing over heating of the cat or other damage...similar to mud and debris getting packed inside the KDSS covers.

^Driving in mud will cause damage to 20 other places on the vehicle if you don't flush off the mud afterwards.

That’s a good assumption to take. It’s one thing if you’re splashing through a silty water puddle, and another if you’re bogging your way through chunky mud. If there’s any doubt you have packed mud underneath, you really should inspect and hose things out thoroughly at the end of your trip, regardless of having these cat shields

Although if you’re off-roading and often going through mud, I’m not sure these cat-shields are the best solution. Lots of holes for branches to snag in, and they don’t look to be built to function as armor. From what I’ve seen the strongest armor commercially available for 5th gen 4runners is the belly pan system made by 4x innovations, which happens to give complete cat coverage. It also happens to be relatively cheap compared to most other skid plates sets (less than 800 bucks). IMG_6737.jpg IMG_6736.jpg

Unfortunately the skidplates are heavy, and they still collect mud if you’re driving through deep puddles. After really muddy trips, I’ve taken them off to get rid of the accumulated mud, which takes a while to do.

Yep, I occasionally drive through mud that has a lot of clay in it. When that dries it's like concrete, and as soon as I get home I am off to the car wash that has a pressure washer and go to work on the under carriage. It is very difficult to blast away at built up areas of this mud, and I am thinking it's not worth having cat covers if I have to remove them to get the mud out.
