Have q 21with 14k. After reading all the horror stories about shitty dealerships and multiple failures i went straight to the ECGS bushing install. $350. So far so good.

Glad to hear the ECGS bushing is working for you. I installed one on my Tacoma. Just hate to tear apart the 2022 4Runner since we have a 7 year 125,000 mile warranty through Toyota.

I found this yesterday while cleaning my 4Runner. It appears the Toyota dealership tore the CV axle boot when they replaced my differential. Vehicle is currently at 4,353 miles and has been in the shop more times than my 2015 in the 7 years I have owned it. 713DFD4C-3705-4FC3-9CD2-B3DB547AE1E1.jpg 9F133B9D-2DCA-4463-AE0F-B876BF33325D.jpg F37B704D-3DBE-497C-9C0F-313A1C1BA90D.jpg 713DFD4C-3705-4FC3-9CD2-B3DB547AE1E1.jpg 9F133B9D-2DCA-4463-AE0F-B876BF33325D.jpg F37B704D-3DBE-497C-9C0F-313A1C1BA90D.jpg

Exactly why I sold mine and left the Toyota ownership arena. Will likely never buy another new Toyota. Will for sure NEVER buy another vehicle from the local servicing dealer.
Hope you get it worked out.

What did you get when you sold your 4Runner? I like the Broncos but there is a few price difference right now.

Nice! My nephew is going today to the Subaru dealer to put a deposit down on one of those. I've owned 5-6 Subarus since '82 and they were all great. The only problem I had was the front CV boot over the exhaust failed and also they used to be really slow. LOL
I have a '18 Forester and will trade it in soon for a Crosstrek to downsize since I got the 4R.

The outback wilderness has the 2.4 Turbo and is definitely not slow. I believe 0-60 in around 6 seconds. CVT tranny not ideal but they say they beefed it up.
It’s loaded. Factory roof rack rated to hold 700 lbs as well. So designed for tents.
If you haven’t looked at the wilderness you should take a look at the specs.

The Forrester has gotten the wilderness treatment as well this year and I believe next year the cross trek gets the wilderness treatment.

I was referring to the early ones that were slow. I know the Wilderness has the turbo engine and is pretty quick and that's one of the reasons why my nephew wants one. A friend bought a '75 Subaru wagon back when we were in school and he was the only guy I know that got a ticket from the CHP for going too slow on the way to Tahoe.

I had a 2016 Crosstrek for five years and 94,000 miles. It was a good car and I really liked it. I paid $26,000 for it and got $14,000 trade-in for it when I bought the 4R.

I would suggest that your nephew opts to work an OE hitch into the deal up front. It’s an involved process to install. It includes removing and cutting the bumper. It’s worth it to have. 3500 lb towing capacity and of course bike carriers.

On a serious note the only difference between all that cladding on the Subaru and all the plastic bumpers and cladding on a forerunner is they paint the 4runner cladding.

i'll probably never own a subaru due to their arrogance over their failure prone head gaskets. all they had to do to solve the issue was increase the thickness.

i guess in a way that's similar to toyota and the needle bearing. but i'd much rather add the ECGS bushing than take an engine apart.

So is it a factory installed option? Thanks for the tip!

I think if you order it ahead of time the port installs it. They do a better job consistently.

(Port being indiania shipping yard, I’m assuming, lol)

Aftermarket hitches affect the rear ground clearance in most cases.

:eek:6 sec w/ a CVT?!?! Wow, Subaru is stepping up! How is the brake pedal feel? Last time I test drove Subies, they all felt like sponges, but that was already 15 years ago.

Reminds me of the unpainted Jeep Wrangler fenders. Wonder what all the plastic would look like on every car if left unpainted. I think the jeep Cherokee has a plastic hood, fenders, bumpers, fuel door cover.
I think this generation Tacoma’s is the first generation to have a plastic rear bumper.
It’s the way we are going. Unreal.

It’s kind of amazing that a wagon can scoot like that. Seriously, I still remember watching AutoWeek on PBS as a kid,and being all amazed at porsche 911s in the low 6s. Haha

I remember back in 2011 and I was looking for my first 1/2 ton truck to purchase in 10 years and finding out the Rams with Hemi engine had a base horsepower of 390. I was shocked. I was used to 200 hp V-8s. Times have definitely changed quickly in the auto industry.

"With an intimidating appearance and a raucous 591-hp engine, the 2022 Audi RS6 Avant is one wicked station wagon. Not only can it launch to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds and reach speeds up to 190 mph, but it'll carry a quartet of passengers in complete comfort along with all their gear."
