Look up Hybrid, foldout rooftop tent by FSR, https://gofsr.com/products/nova-hybrid-foldout-rooftop-tent. It looks as though it might fit on a 4runner by it's dimensions and weight (132lbs).

Worth checking out, it would have been on my list of options if I were shopping now.

I'm planning a trip to Alaska and I will have multiple occasions when I'm only in camp for 1 night. It would be nice to not pitch a tent and tear it down everyday, so in that scenario a RTT would be perfect. But, when I'm not traveling to Alaska, and I'm camping near home, I don't move camp every night. I'm not an Overlander where I'm packing up and moving camp everyday for that day's drive, I'm all about the destination. I typically stay in my camp for at least 2 nights and I often need to drive to a section of river, or a trail, or whatever; so in that scenario, having a RTT means I have to tear it down to drive. But the real downside that has me on the fence is I piss about twice per night! :D

you get good at going down that ladder in the night, littel harder after a few beverages, but that also seems to add a trip. And when you say tear down, I can have my tent closed and secured in probably 2 to 3 minutes, usually just putting around, I have it done in 5. For me, when we had a tent, that would stay and keep our site claimed, but I still had to pack up most of my gear for security reasons.
