Best all weather tires

Hi there. I’m new to this forum and need some guidance! I drive a 2017 4 Runner and drive from Maine to Vail Colorado and then Salt Lake City to visit kids, at the end of every January and stay until mid March. I’ve been driving Nokian Hakkapelletta (sp?) studded tires which have been great considering the nasty mountain pass roads in Colorado and driving up the canyons in Utah. This year in early March I am driving from Colorado to Florida to spend 6 weeks with my mom. Obviously wont be driving those tires in Florida! Suggesstions on new tire to buy for all weather or perhaps just buy new all seasons when I leave Colorado to drive to FL. I’ll need a new set this year anyway. Then I’d have to transport 4 studded tires though. its a conundrum

 

For excellent year round performance, I was very happy with Yokohama Geolandar AT-GO15's. Very good in snow, and great on all kinds of surfaces.

If you like Nokian, the Rotiiva AT looks like a great all around tire as well.

 

I don't like to run winter tires here in CO because the temperature fluctuate alot and it is not going to be good for winter tires. Simple as 67F today and tomorrow predicted to be 23F.

In the snow I love my GY Wrangler Duratracs.

My BFG KO2 and Falken Wildpeak AT3W are about the same but in winter wheeling trails I prefer to have BFG KO2.

Nitto Terra Grapplers came on TRD Pro probably be my least fav A/T I've experienced. Continental extreme contact was much better tire but not good as above 3 I've tried.

After the Falken Wildpeak AT3W wear out I'm going to try Yokohama Geolandar AT.

 

There's a ton of choices. But I'd stick will all terrains.

Maxxis razr at are my top choice

 

General Grabber ATx…SL load. Quiet, wear well, 3 peak rated & studdable & ride like factory Bridgestones.

 

I recently installed a set of all weather 3 peak mountain snowflake rated AT. Falken Wildpeak AT3. They get great reviews on here and were about $218.00 a tire for OEM 265/70/17.

 

Michelin Defender LTX is only all season right? Its very interesting all season perform better than an all weather tire like Falken Wildpeak AT3W how its rubber can maintain grip at lower temperatures. Of so why they are not qualified for the 3pmsf rating.? Wish there is some scientific test to check the traction vs temperature on each.

 

The old Michelin MS was fantastic in wet/icy/snowy conditions. When they switched the name to Defender, one of the updates was an updated rubber compound that is supposed to be even better in slippery conditions. I’ve driven several sets. And I agree, just a great tire. And they last about 70k miles.

 

My vote is Falken WP AT3

 

I just wore out my Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws and got Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs. Falkens were great all around. Mickeys did pretty good in the snow today as well. I don’t have enough time driving on the Mickey Thompson’s yet, so my vote is for the Falkens as well.

 

I got a deal on Yokohama Geolander AT tires, they were buy 3 get 1 free. 3 snowflake rated is a plus living in New England
