I think my next set will be either Falken Rubitrek SL or MT Baja Boss in 285/70/17.

Just got a 2023 4 Runner XP and I absolutely love it. It came with Nitro Ridge Grapplers 265/70/17's and while they look amazing on the truck, they are loud and I believe are needing to be replaced soon. I took it to Discount Tire and had them check the tread and he said they're getting close to needing replacement and the vehicle has 38K miles on it. I also drove through torrential rain yesterday and did not feel safe and felt like the vehicle kept trying to hydroplane even though I was going around 50-55. Like the OP wants, I want a tire that looks great on my new to me truck but I do not do any off roading and drive mostly highway and local roads. I don't even have 4WD because I just don't need it where I live now and it made my dream vehicle cheaper lol. I was ready to ditch the "mom" car (Honda Pilot) now that my boys are older. I'm experiencing tire search exhaustion and have been reading these forums since I got the truck. I think I'm really considering the Cooper Discoverer ATP II's. I've compared all the specs (wet conditions, noise, mpg, etc) with some others and these seemed like a good value for what I'm going for I guess. I have been a loyal Michelin Defender user on my previous vehicles (CR-V and most recently Pilot) and I love those tires, but I do not think those tires will look good on my truck haha. Anyone have any pics of their 4 Runner with these Cooper ATP II's on them? If so how do you like those tires? Are they good in rain because we get a lot of rain living on the coast. My son has a 4 Runner as well and I put Pathfinder AT's on his and they look pretty good, but I think these Coopers get a little better rating for wet conditions than those and that's very important to me.

Discount Tire sells the Goodyear Ultra Terrains. Car like ride, light weight, great in the rain, looks great and I have found them to be just as good off road as BF's (and many others I have tried, my 2021 is my 4th 4Runner.) They are holding up great on longevity and fuel milage is surprisingly very good too.

i’ve always had really good experiences with the Falken wild Peak AT3’s on all of my vehicles. Not too sure how the AT4 handle insnow and rain, etc. but I’ve heard good results about the Falken Rubitreks which will probably be my next tire upgrade when my AT3’s were out

Falken Wild Peak AT3s are due for replacement. Loved them, but shifting to Falken Rubitreks on Friday instead of AT3s due to price and fact that 98% of driving is on-road.

Having tried more aggressive AT tires and not pleased with on-road driving characteristics I settled on the Dueler AT Ascent tire by Bridgestone. Impressively capable in all off-road conditions and perform very similar to an HT tire on pavement. Look good too. White letters included. Mud optional.

Just put Dueler AT Ascents on my son's 2016 Ford F150. Was impressed and considered those for my 4R, but the lower price of the Falkens and positive experience with previous the brand swayed the decision.

Are the new Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 not aggressive enough, looks-wise? Their new version seems to have a little more of an aggressive top sidewall than the previous version. I mean you can't beat it for on road performance, and i think they made it at least a little more aggressive looking.

Stock tire size. 265/70R17 I recall without checking.

I can't speak to the new M/S2, but the ones I had on my 2013 provided absolutely no traction in a soft/mud scenario I found myself in. No amount of 4Low/Atrac could help, those slick tires just spun. I've been with AT style tires since then. Hindsight traction boards would probably have helped me get out (I now carry those), but the previous edition M/S2's were basically highway only.

After a lot (way too much) research and talking to a friend from Commercial Tire, I settled on the Cooper Discoverer Road & Trail. I could not be happier; they look way more aggressive in person than the photos online. Highway sound even at 80mph is minimal compared to other AT’s I’ve owned on previous vehicles. Rained for the first time today in probably five months so roads get a little slick here but these hugged the road exactly as you’d expect. Off-road trails here with lots of rocks of all sizes and shapes, big inclines and declines, and never felt them slip at all. Plus they are one of the few companies who give you black and white raised lettering so you can choose what you want, wish I had gone the white letter out now that I’ve been running them for a while.

We’ll see how they do in the snow this winter, I’m expecting they will be good for an AT tire. If you’re wanting to play in the mud or go rock climbing, these aren’t for you. Every day driver with some trail fun, I’d recommend them all day.

I have the MS2s and I can attest that they do not like mud, even a little. Especially on a fairly steep slope. I found out the hard way. They do great off road when it’s dry, though.

I was comparing the Cooper Discoverer ATP II's and the Michelins and they were kind of neck in neck with the safety ratings I was looking for, as well as good mpg rating and low noise and good in wet weather. So it was coming down to price and the Cooper's were slightly cheaper.

I saw some of those on a person's truck in my neighborhood and they look good so I looked them up on Discount Tire's site but they didn't get as good as a rating on the things that were important to me like wet roads, etc. as the ATP II's

But some fat street tires. My AWD is pretty impressive with slick Maypops on it. Even in the snow. The Kumho AT 52 looks pretty aggressive. The Kumho 551s were the best rain tire I ever had on my Ram. Run 60-70 in a downpour and never felt it floating or slipping.

I got my tires from Discount Tires. They have veterans discounts too. Shipped to house for $5 each or installer for free. I was looking at these. I was interested in Hercules Terra-Tracs also. Hercules makes good tires and that tred block design is going to be quieter. Apparently, nobody makes cheap tires anymore.

Don't turn into something you don't enjoy driving anymore. You'll be trading anyway. I don't think women appreciate the reliability as much as the amount of doo-dads. Get her a RAV4 and you keep the 4runner. Nothing is better than a paid for 4runner. Then you can really enjoy it for decades.
