I had the Stone OG IPA and the Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin at the Kings game on Saturday night. My daily beer is the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

I haven't spent much time in Santa Cruz but I like what I have seen. Being near the ocean and in close proximity to the mountains is awesome.

It's a cool spot and has access to a lot of great outdoor activities. There's definitely a large homeless population and some petty theft in town but I live a little outside of town and away from that stuff. We live in a really cool family friendly community.

Hermitage has some awesome beer although I heard they just closed their doors. Don't know the story behind it. Sad because they were in business for quite a while.

I will definitely check out the others when I make it over the hill. Thanks for the recs

Whoa. Where did you hear about Hermitage? I see on IG they were closed over New Years eve/day but nothing else. Although their actual website is now returning a 404 error…. Uh oh.

That always sucks when a nice place shuts down.

There was a nice brew pub that opened up along the way to the ex's parents place a few years ago. Hydro street brewing. We ate there a few times and liked the beer. The owners were always hanging around and friendly. Then they were gone. :pout:

At least I tried the fried green tomatoes when I had the chance. :hungry:

Small craft brewing must be difficult to earn a living. I believe it was in Dec 2020 that Santa Clara Brewing in SJ went out of business and Narrative Fermentations took over.

Supposedly the Benjamin Franklin quote "beer is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy" is not true. I like it too much to care.

“Beer fans got devastating news Wednesday: Russian River Brewing Co. is postponing its Pliny the Younger beer release for seven weeks at its two local brewpubs, thanks to the omicron surge.

The popular two-week event was to begin Feb. 4, amid great anticipation after the 2020 in-person gathering was canceled because of the pandemic. Instead, it will be held March 25 to April 7.”

Maybe I’ll try to hit the event this year …

Anyone in Lubbock? My wife is the brewer and mastermind at The Brewery LBK downtown. They won the USA Today Best Brewpub in the country last year. Just tapped her new Scottish Ale. Everything from a Mexican style Porter, Top 5 Great American Beer Festival winner Brown Ale, a German style Kolsch, NEIPA, an West Texas award winning IPA, whiskey infused milk stout, a Belgian triple, a 1 year aged, hand bottled Belgian Quad, and more. She created several hard lemonades at 9% alcohol during the shutdown. Unemployed Astronaut is made with Tang (orange, pineapple and mango) and was an instant hit.

If you are in or passing through town, first beer is on me.

If you are in Ohio or East Indy you may be familiar with Warped Wing Brewery in downtown Dayton.

Their Whisky Rebellion was rated in the top 70's worldwide. And it taste a DREAM..... (First Saturday of December it releases yearly).

    Check out this Ohio Collab:

They are both great and have stood the test of time. If you ever have the chance, I would highly recommend the Anchor Steam brewery tour.

Pliny rocks! We get Russian River more frequently now here in CO. Which of course, is nice. I try to keep a few bottles of Pliny, Blind Pig, and Mind Circus in the fridge at all times. Russian River bottles are nearly perfect for homebrewing too...
