I replaced the antenna on my 2000 4 runner. Was working fine, but now it continues to grind once the antenna is extended. Any clues? Thanks

I hear a lot of people doing the Tacoma “whip” mod on the runners, I may do the same

For what it's worth I had the same thing happen and said the heck with it. Here is my fix. I disconnected the motor to the whip first. Then I got a tube of Superglue and pulled one section at a time up and put the glue around it. If you will take a pair of pliers and squeeze each section just a little the glue will hold better. Do this for each section and it'll stay up. Been through car washes and everything. Still staying up.

I did the Tacoma whip mod, totally worth it. Power antenna's are great, until you come up on a low branch and then you get tired of replacing them
