I am fairly new to 4Runners, not just this website. Drove a 2017 SR5 Premium the other day and it had synthetic leather seats. I liked the feel, but are these durable, or should I find one with cloth?

    Thanks for your help,
    DocH

I can only compare to Fords leather. Had a platinum with real leather and a lariat with fake leather. Now the 4runner with I think they call softex ? Anyway because all the vehicles were lifted one tends to slide out of them. The lariat fake leather is junk. Platinum is pretty good but time wise for only owning my runner 4 months now, the softex is holding up well and easy to wash. Water and a towel done

I had thought the premiums came with real leather but could be wrong.
The softex is more durable than cloth IMO

The softex is pretty durable so far for me. I dont have the "wrinkles" and "shiny spots" that I tended to see on the drivers side bolster of past cars with real leather. Haven't spilled anything on it that didnt wipe right off. The only downside I've seen is that I stick to them in the heat of the summer when I come in from a hike or something. they don't "breathe"

I was also told you get leather with the limited from my dealer. SofTex with the SR5 premium or OR premium.
I love our SofTex. After 7 months outside (no garage) it is like new! It does get hot (vynil) in the sun. Cools quickly & cleans even easier. Great material in my opinion. Just hope it hold up after 5 yrs as I cannot condition it...

Just caught it. Leather in Limited- not premium as I understand. I misread the quote above. Sorry.

Our Camry has the Softex seats...so far after two years of road trips, kids, soccer practices, etc in the Florida heat, they've held up great. I use Griots leather cleaner on them (arguably not necessary) about once a month and they still look new
