Not sure what forum this belongs in: mods please move appropriately.

First world problems: I already have a twin compressor mounted on my 4Runner however my buddy wanted one as well and I convinced him to not mount it so it could be used on any vehicle. (I really wanted to be able to borrow it when I wanted too, so….haha)

Does anyone have any experience mounting one of these in a pelican style box that has worked well? Any pics or recs on the box and any tips or tricks?

    thanks!

Yes, I know the way I hooked up the cables is dangerous. I didn’t have big enough electrical couplers so this was my temp solution. I taped it up when I tested it and used it.

Good idea on the box. I am anxious to see some replies.

I had to run to Home Depot for a separate project and ran across this box. A little pricey but I’m a dewalt guy and already have other boxes in this lineup. I’m hoping I can just find the electrical connecter on the compressor and just plug the cables straight in.
Also considering making this box rain proof. Maybe have external plug in connectors for both power and air.

Found this flush plug setup for the power supply. Trying to find something similar for air if anyone has a recommendation. Fuses/circuit breakers come tomorrow to wire the inside up.

Got it wired up and just jumped the purple and red wire on the switch. So it turns on when it gets power. I might add a switch later. I still want to find a way to get the air out of the box while being water tight. I can’t find anything that will stay flush enough with the box that won’t get damaged while off road. I think I might try to protect these wires a little more too.

and there you go... the Dewalt box looks good and certainly cost less than the Pelican Box. the only thing I personally would add to the setup along with what is there is a short electrical cord with the flat quick connect and outlet on the rig at the back with a quick connect to use without opening the hood.

I used this instead. Those connectors stick off the box or allow moisture/external elements into the box. Trying to keep it rain proof or sealed.

edit: you mean the literal hood. That’s not my intention here. This is designed to work with any vehicle/trailer/etc.

Not how I meant sorry typing from Phone not always the best - a cord with the same plug you have on the Box and the flat plug on the other end for quick connect at the source and save the battery terminal clamps for others. we do that because not only use it for quick power source it can be used to jump start dead batteries so I have them on both trucks and the boat.

Yea, I figured out what you meant after I re-read it. That's a good idea, this box is already getting full though and not sure it's worth it to have another set of cables in there.
