Highly recommended, most that go to the Alpine area Black Bear Pass, Imogene, Engineers Pass & the loop; missing out on this magnificent area which is close; Montrose and the Black Canyon of The Gunnison, some nice lonely trails, lakes and great fishing.

No people on these beautiful trails, very narrow at some places (like BBP) without the switch-backs, kind a hidden.

Largest body of water in Colorado, Blue Mesa

Great fishing, Kokanee Salmon awesome tasting.

It's all part of the Uncompahgre National Forest which is a U.S. National Forest covering 955,229 acres (1,492.55 sq mi, or 3,865.68 km2) in (in descending order of land area) parts of Montrose, Mesa, San Miguel, Ouray, Gunnison, Hinsdale, San Juan, and Delta Counties in western Colorado.

Tomichi Pass is nice, and many others around this area I can dig up from past trips, in case someone is interested to do this, they can post on this thread and ask me. I'm more than willing to help.

Tomichi Pass, is easy to difficult. Lots of ghost mines and towns to see.; gets technical once you go past Hancock, becomes rocky. Modified 4R needed. Some trail maps are writing OHV, not so. I did this with to different 4x4 vehicles. Stunning views and a good challenge.
