My 9 inch rear subwoofer has started to rattle. Toyota has discontinued them and I would like to find a replacement for my 2007 4 Runner that would fit in the same area and not require any amplifier changes. I’d appreciate any recommendations from owners who have had to deal with the same issue.

I did a Rockford Fosgate shallow mount sub (can't remember the P/N - but just type your info into Crutchfield). I can't say it was a "direct" replacement for the stock sub but it runs off the stock amplifier. All i had to do was drill some new mounting holes (easy) to line up with the new sub mounting holes, and then cut off the factory harness connector to wire in the new sub. Sounds difficult, but it wasn't. Hardest part of the whole job was just removing the interior pieces to get to the sub. Also, i thought they were 8", not 9"?
