Isn't there a milage limit when you register with antique tags? I'm sure it's different from state to state but I was looking at registering my 96' with historic tags but decided against it due to that milage restriction. Not sure how they'd check though....

Here you can’t drive it to work or over two hundred miles across the country.

I've got historic tags on my 96 , which is my daily driver until the law tells me otherwise, then I'll just drive my 98 Camry which has historic tags as well lol ,and if that doesn't work I'll drive me 99 GMC Safari which is also historic, I see a theme developing here

In NC, emissions/ODBII testing ends after 25 years...so I have 7 more years to go! Then I can let this little check engine light of mine shine!

The only check engine light I have gotten in 25 years is an O2 sensor..Replaced with new exhaust and gone..

I drive mine way too far, and the little 4 cylinder passed my states smog despite it not being California spec. I plan to drive on like nothing happened for as long as I can.

I’m getting antique tags for my GSXR too that Mat Mladin won the Daytona 200 on in 01. So looking forward to what Suzuki brings to the market next year....

Depending on your county. Where I live in NC, no emissions test anymore. $13.60 for a yearly inspection. I am surprised a 20 year old vehicle would be considered antique.

Idk where you live, but I don't think "Historic" tags (not Antique, antique is different) in general disqualify you from emissions. Antique or collector do though, but you also need to be on a list and have special insurance. Correct me if I'm wrong though, cuz it'd be cool to do mine in 4 years.

Huh. Guess they define antique differently out there. 250 miles a year though, yikes.

just bought my 2whdr '00 Limited 4Runner with 240K miles; no rust, no leaks. In FL no mileage limiter on antique/historic tags, but still will keep 100/300 for insurance purposes. Damn fine truck to go camping in.

It’s not 250 miles a year. It’s 250 miles from the house..And can’t commute to work with it every day. Just common sense laws...

Tennessee's antique tag requirement is pretty wild. No mileage limitations, but can only be used on weekends...

Gov. DeSantis in FL missing a fund-raising possibility, can double price for antique tags if allowed to personalize them, somebody needs to drop a dime, lol.

The antique plate law here in NC just got changed to 30 years old from 35. So I got at least 1 more year before my 92 qualifies.

If I make it to Monday, I have an appointment at DMV to go “Antique”. They only make appointments for driver’s license change, but technically I’m changing my driver’s license plate....So hoping for the best.....
