No truer words have ever been spoken. My wife bought a brand new Grand Cherokee in 2021, even against my opinion. At 10k miles the head gaskets were toast and engine torn down. At 35k miles we sold it as the transmission was slipping.

 

Stalantis is now offering employee pricing, still not worth the price, but cheaper new junk.

 

Ford is doing the same thing offering employee pricing. But as an added bonus most models come with recalls

 

Kind of like Tundras, Tacomas and Lexus GX550's. And we just received a recall this past week on our LX600.

 

Way too high. I paid 36k for a 2021 TRD offroad premium in 2023 with 50k miles that came with a free warranty from Toyota up to 100k miles or 7 years. Carmax is a ripoff/Carvana is a ripoff. Buy used from a Toyota dealer. They usually come with warranty from Toyota if its certified.
Also 2020 and up got apple carplay and 2021+ got led headlights from the factory.

Right now there is still used certified 5th gens on the Toyota lots. Wont be many left soon. We all know 5th is gonna be the last newest good 4runner

 

I sort of mentioned it in passing but I’m in Tennessee. Just moved from CA actually.

4wd and trim level doesn’t matter as long as it’s not limited.

The market is actually significantly better in ca, a lot more inventory. The certified used options were tons, here it’s a small handful.

 

In this area (middle Tennessee) the certified used options are shockingly limited. I can go with now and do like a 150 mile search and find 7 with 4x4 and half of them have 90k miles and still priced 38k.

 

Expand your search to 500 miles, it will give you a lot more options. This one is about 30 minutes from me, if you're interested I'll go look at it and grab some pictures.

Nice offer but I’m looking for a 4wd currently. I’d do find this guy like 400 miles from me that I’ll see if I can’t negotiate. This low of mileage seems odd for this year to say the least so I’m going to call tomorrow to check if they ship and if I can get a mobile ppi guy out there.

It’s a salvage.

A lot of these lower price point ones I see have accidents to them. It’s why the 2015 caught my eye, one owner no accicents.

I did just find a 2014 with one owner, 34k miles and no accidents. May have a mechanic drive out there

I missed that. I found my Pro last June doing a 500 mile radius search, it was a 9 hour drive home, but it was almost $4000 cheaper than St. Louis. I flew to Minneapolis to get it. Why don't you want a Limited? The last one I posted is close to Chicago, I purchased a few cars from McGrath, they are a reputable company.

 

Limited just usually isn’t my thing. I am super intrigued by this 2014 I just found with 34k miles listed at 26k though. If it’s solid I have no problem traveling for it. I’m going to talk to them tomorrow about what the cost is to ship though.

 

There’s got to be something wrong with that truck. Something with that low miles should have sold right away at that price.

 

It’s been for sale for like 2 days. I paid for the carfax and no reports. For sure needs an inspection though.

 

Yep makes you wonder does anyone want to make a reliable quality new vehicle anymore? Everyone had to rush to the market with the new tech, turbos and all this new stuff. Not good.

 

What was the LX recall for?

 

If that one checks out, it seems like a much better deal, plus it's from a Toyota dealer.

 

Now I just have to figure out how to facilitate a pre purchase inspection from 450 miles away.

 

why would Toyota want to build bullet proof vehicles that allow more people who hold onto their cars for 20+ years and easy to work on by owners or indy mechanics? That's bad for dealer and OEM profit. They want people who are drawn to newest gadgets and trade in every 2-4 years.

 

It's from the dealer, which I think is strange, will find out when we take it in.

 

Did you get the 4runner? I see it's no longer advertised.

 

The price seems high. I got a certified used 23 Limited for 36k a year ago but it had 60k miles. I would think you could find a better deal than Carvana

 

This seems to be EXCESSIVE price for a warranty. I'd spend few hundred dollars on independent mechanic inspection and call it a day.
