Had my Zone A replaced Monday... they had it about 4 hours, good to go!

Yeah I get it and I suppose I agree went through this with my Honda and after a year (literally) of them sending me letters I made the appt. Everybody shouldn't lose sleep that it's going off in their face tomorrow but should you wait a year like me absolutely not. Got my post card the other day for my "free" 5,000 mile/6 month check I'll get it in and inquire about it then. Mine sits in the garage just turned 3,000 miles since early September but I'm brining it in for a check in the next few weeks anyway.

I just saw that you have a 2018. You shouldn't need an airbag replacement. The recall is only issued for 4Runners up to 2016.

I would not take that bet. Toyota just recently added a bunch of VINs to the list.

Just checked the VIN on my 2018 again and it said no recalls are issued at this time.

Most manufactures have been adding vehicles to the recall list on an ad hoc basis. When my service adviser told me early last year that my VIN was NOT on the recall list I was shocked.
Eventually it ended up on the list. Done now, two hours total. I dropped off at 7am- they texted me at 9am saying it was ready to pick up.

Yep, get it done. I recently saw a news report of someone that got hurt really bad from the bad airbag.

So do they have to take the dashboard out? If they do I hope my dash won't start to get dash noises after they're done.

I can't see anything different inside mine.. and I haven't noticed any rattles or squeaks, If I didn't no something was done I couldn't tell something was done.

I looked at some instructions and it seems you can get to it via the glove box area.

Open it like you are going to replace the in cabin air filter and check around that area.
