I have a 2013 Toyota forerunner limited. Was going 120 km down the highway when my ABS kicked on and threw me into the ditch. Did not touch the brakes when I applied to break Steve felt spongy shut the vehicle off pump the brakes a few times and it was fine for another 300 km when it happened again any ideas? As a sidenote I just had to brakes done a couple weeks ago. and no codes came up

    Oooh look, another mod.....

Here are a few threads about the same problem you're having. Maybe they'll help?

Your abs or the ABS system in the car? :D Man I’m trying to work on my abs 3x a week but it’s pretty painful.

First off, Check that your lug nuts are tight. If not, the entire rotor may move to the side a little causing the brake pistons to retract. When you hit the brakes, it will feel spongy.

Maybe that triggered the abs to activate. Although, if you got thrown off the road into a ditch, it sounds like it was stability control thinking you were not in control. Sounds like a dangerous fault. Could be related to the brake job, but hard to tell without exploring further.

The garage checked the brakes again and found nothing. No code showed up. Taking the traction control off when driving it. Made an appointment with Toyota for the 21st. Hopefully they can find something.

Did they tell you what they physically checked?Hopefully it wasn’t just a scan.

I suggest asking Toyota dealer if they can scan for the last stability control activation. Maybe there is info in there indicating why it activated.
