After setting 3 years, changed battery and fired right up. Had 1/4 tank gas, added to 3/4 with fresh. Ran fine for about 10 miles. Went across some RR tracks and the throttle dropped out and now runs fine under 1700rpm, but over that it chokes out until it drops down below 1700.
Then at times it runs good again, and will rev up. Changed fuel filter, cap and rotor, and mass air flow sensor. Fuel pressure tests ok at outlet of fuel filter. When it does this, the exhaust stinks bad, and it seems to backfire a bit. NO check engine light, and it is working, as when you key on it does light up and then goes out. Has me stumped. Has anyone experienced this?

If you have Haynes manual, there are all kinds of electrical resistance tests (and the normal values) you can do for injectors, MAF sensor etc. with a volt meter. Might help rule some things out before replacing them.

May or may not help, but good luck.
