Now that the 5th Gen is out of production and new inventory is running out, I read about skyrocketing values in the used T4R market. Is this true? If so, I wonder if values are going to keep going up for a while before the 6th Gen comes out and their prices stabilize? Curious what you all are seeing/hearing? Thanks!

My completely unprofessional opinion is that value will hold steady or depreciation will continue slowly for now and when 6th gens show up the continued rate will depend on their pricing.

Some will point to the possibility of X or Y issue or Toyota being washed up but I'm betting the general buying public won't have much concern other than how much markup dealers try to pull and how long the waiting list is.

Too poor to buy anything now
I think that the value of the 2024's will depend on the popularity of the 2025's. It could go up or down.

You can count on used values to remain at the very top tier of all vehicles overall, but looking at Gen3 Tacoma residuals in 2024 might be a good point of reference for what Gen5 4R’s will do in 2025.

Gen3 Taco values went up when Gen4 deliveries were initially delayed due to scarcity, and seem to be stabilizing now, with discounts being offered on the new ones.

most people absolutely do not want the new gen 4 Tacoma because it’s overpriced they have transmission and build quality issues don’t have a bump stop anymore and they’re way overpriced

I paid 42-43K for my SR5P (without sunroof) in January '24. I have about 12,600 mostly highway miles on it now. I just got an online buy offer from Carmax for 44K. They do not even know that I put TRD Pro wheels and better tires on the vehicle.
