Does anyone know if the 5th outer tie rods are the same on each side? I know at least on the 3rd Gen they are different.

The only part number I have found is
Steering Tie Rod End (Left, Right) - Toyota (45046-69245

so it appears as if left and right are the same. Is that the case for the 5th gen?

    thanks
    Mike

Yup, they should be. I actually just ordered some from McGeorge Toyota this weekend. You can see the description from online:

4504669245 - Steering Tie Rod End (Left, Right) TIE ROD, LEFT; TIE ROD, RIGHT.

    Thanks Kid,

I also checked with McGeorge and confirmed the same. I’m not planning on doing any swaps yet, I just like to know ahead of time.

    Thanks for your reply.
    Cheers

Hey guys I'm replacing my passenger side tie rods, do you know the size of the pinch/jam nut where the inner meets the outer? Can't seem to find it. Thanks

I was trying to find this too, recently, and realized that the nut might be a part of the inner tie rod assembly and not spec'd out on the car parts pages that I've been browsing.

Thank-you! I found this to be true as well. Someone on here's gotta know, I want to get a crowfoot socket in that size so I can torque to spec and sleep at night. The shop that installed my lift and suspension upgrades did alignment and both pinch/jam nuts either back off or were left loose, destroyed all the threads on both passenger side rods and yesterday separated completely leaving my driveway!

Ok, I just went outside and put my digital calipers on the jam-nut on my inner tierod that butts up against the outer tie rod (just to make sure we're talking about the same part). I'm getting 22mm as a reading.

You da man! Perfect thanks a lot for that
Anf to answer your question about which assembly the pinch / jam nut come with: Toyota Dealership-Parts confirmed that nut doesn't come with ITRE, but it comes with the entire rack. However you can buy the nut itself for $3.50 CAD and wait for shipping. I plan to re-use mine. Also was told the ITRE doesn't look to come with the OEM lock washer where it meets the rack? Reuse?

Coincidentally, I just bought an Inner TRE today and picked it up at the dealership - No hardware. I'd say reuse if you have one.

@nova update, Toyota dealer parts quote for japanese rods: outer $60 (highest around by $10), inner $460 (ridiculous. that's with no hardware or rack & pinion bellow!).
Was told if you buy the whole rack, you get all the hardware - pinch nuts, bellows, clamps, castle nuts, cotter pins.

However, if you go aftermarket Moog or ACDelco rods (before discounts): outer around $50 (comes greased with castle nut+cotter pin), bellow $25, inner around $70-200...and the ITRE came with a new pinch nut!

My ITRE was $160.00, just fyi. Toyota OEM. I’m hoping they sent me the right part now…lol.
