You guys have some great shots, especially the ones out west. Here are a couple from a recent off road weekend.

After sleeping with one eye open, just in case bandits came lurking, and waking up too early I couldn’t pass on this picture’s symbolism of the cherry 1f352_e553ba0a38b9f5844fe64e57224f8c1df6f098e2.png on top from the setting moon on the weBoost antenna for a great trip through some AWESOME backcountry and roadways. One of many appreciations of Overlanding in the desert is a clear sight for tens of miles in the distance due to the lack of trees. After breakfast and last night's neighbors coming by to say goodbye I left the Coronado National Forest and headed home. Not too far from where I camped last night, a posse. Who could they be after? Rhetorical, I kept driving. While I passed a number of border checkpoints during the trip, some manned, some not, some appeared ad-lib, and some elaborate and somewhat permanent, today alone encountered many more than the other 3 days combined. After 750 miles (in green), greeted by a full moon at Home Sweet Home. This section of Arizona Backcountry Discovery Route (AZBDR), sections 3, 2, and 1 (Globe, AZ to USA/Mexico Border), is AWESOME and well worth the time, energy, and effort, and the gpx files for the entire AZBDR are free (or donation). The rest of the green is my ad-lib. As the weather warms, looking forward to traveling the AZBDR northward from Globe, AZ.

Ut oh. We have a western showdown between a Tacoma and a 4Runner. I think you got him @Fltslr with your steel bumper. ;)
Hope you are doing well and glad to see your out there wheeling the Arizona landscape.

Love the pics from Newfoundland--the Canadian Maritime is on my bucketlist! I watch a program called Land & Sea about that area and can't wait for an extended road trip out there (I will plan on a summer visit though :)

Awesome! End of July/ early August is usually a safe bet to visit to hit the best weather. Land & Sea is a classic! It captures the culture here quite well. I'm sure you will love your visit, aside from the fuel prices ;)

Thanks for the tip. Yeah I don’t think I will drive my 4R out that far. I would most likely fly and rent something. I am slowly making a list of places to see out there. I definitely want to listen to some good fiddlers and enjoy some brew.

Watching Land & Sea helps me de stress. May sound crazy but there is something relaxing about that program. My Dad is originally from Ottawa and he and I will watch it together sometimes when we hang out. I really wish the cbc website would let us watch it in the States online but they block us. So I have to rely on my cable station to broadcast it on cbc

I will have to add that one to the list. The wife wants to roadtrip without leaving the state.

Awesome! It’s a nice little place to have lunch and there’s a few hiking trails around it.

It seems like a lot of the scenic places are more towards the Eastern side of the state

Arrived too late 23f0_b89f25c0aecc1bc73fc2e7e93623d09dfefccd6d.png yesterday, 24 Mar 2022, to start section 4 (orange and teal colored routes) of the Arizona Backcountry Discovery Route (AZBDR) from Globe, AZ and back, it's what I have time for currently. Arrived late due to the 4Runner needing an A/C line repair, which I damaged, unknowingly when installing the RagoFab hidden winch bumper. Anyhow, intended to start early this morning but, unknowingly and unexpectedly, 1f631_d855301c389696f3de448fd49f1238cab4a56d90.png while I was driving from Phoenix, AZ to Globe, AZ, I was scheduled for a job interview this morning, 25 Mar 2022, at 10:30 1f565_851d374e7f5c3043e494c00b2f9aa89aa19b7715.png and did not find until late last night when I arrived at the Walmart before Globe. 1f926_200d_2640_c2effdacfda138e13a5d1fc75f69e2ff201178dd.png Thus, must hang out at Walmart a lot longer than expected to make sure I have a cellphone 1f4f1_dc75fea6009f952bce190d40920c6ffd9d249e87.png connection. Life’s many surprises. 1f937_200d_2640_cfe1f43d752998451cc19163182b24487341d623.png When life throws you lemons...while waiting around at Walmart, with a good cellphone signal, to take a call 260e_778b0fcca22267b1301300cc187e6cf70f461a52.png...make chocolate chip cookies 1f36a_a3f5695504d8ff6a000b47520ddd95e87d1cd123.png 1f937_200d_2640_cfe1f43d752998451cc19163182b24487341d623.png1f923_8fc20abde31f3de120a28606ec246fd512c35003.png1f923_8fc20abde31f3de120a28606ec246fd512c35003.png1f923_8fc20abde31f3de120a28606ec246fd512c35003.png

Before starting out on AZBDR section 3, Globe, AZ to Hwy 260 (east of Payson, AZ) had to wait for a job interview that didn't happen. But could happen on 26 Mar 2022. Thus, had to change plans, from getting to Hwy 260 and returning to Globe over 4 days, 2 up and 2 down, to getting to Hwy 260 and then home on the same day. Interview went well. Now have to wait on 2nd interview before going back to take 2 days up and 2 down along section 3 (both orange and teal). The first stop was early into the route along the Salt River and a nice spot for an overnighter, with even good cellphone coverage augmented by the weBoost antenna. Had I known I would have waited for the call there instead of the Walmart down the road. Then stopped a second time, at about midpoint, to have lunch, which was missed breakfast. Because I had to hurry home no other stops except at the exit to air up before heading home.
