how complicated was the process of making the 4Runner street legal in Switzerland? I’d possibly want to send one for my parents to keep there.

Gallup, NM on I40. I know, not that scenic but shows in the back the last refinery that used to operate in NM (the stuff I work in).

Some pics from the weekend. The night sky pics were taken with an iPhone 16 Pro, a cheap Amazon tripod and a YouTube video telling me how. It's nearly impossible to catch a pic without a satellite.

What’s not to like about a nice ocean view on a calm sunny day.

Is that all that's left of the cement ship now? They even removed the pier?

Sorry you had to be in Santa Cruz. I truly hate it with a passion, after a couple decades of being there. I hope to never see it again in person.

First came the storms of 2017 that broke her then in 23 the pier sustained major damage. Took a month or so to remove it all.

It’s awful coming back for a visit.

At the end of trail, it was 102 today, hot and dry. Nobody was around, maybe just me asking for punishment. I got thru hells gate. Will post later - the 4R is capable!

Hells Gate, Moab Utah. On 33s, and dumb me , I totally forgot to disconnect the swaybar links that I installed to help with the front, oh well...I guess we don't need them!

    VID-20250819-WA0005.jpg
At the bottom - locker on, as well as atrac.
    IMG-20250819-WA0007.jpg
Right thru the middle - no issues

    IMG-20250819-WA0014.jpg
And then what happens to many......

But the spotter got me back on track and reset the line. The wife is awesome :dancingbacon:.
    IMG-20250819-WA0016.jpg
Not the best shot at the end there but we got thru and no damage!
I put Big Blue thru a lot today, I think. Fins & Things in the morning and then Hells Revenge.

I don't know how scenic this is for some of you, but I found this cute tarantula heading to the back of my 5G in my open garage tonight and put him safely into the bucket. Then I took him into the house to show my wife. I didn't expect her to get so perturbed? Who knew? So, I dropped him off in front of the VRBO across the street...

Thanks, love living up in the trees. Much better than the concrete jungle of Portland! Miss a lot about the PNW tho!

Agreed. I love/hate living in the PNW. We ended up buying a house in the woods this time on an acre to feel "away" sometimes.

Downtown is especially charmless now with monstrous high rise rat cage housing sprouting up, looking like any college town. There used to be some charm but I don't think any town in california can escape the high density housing mandates from Sacramento.

Watching the slow progression along the river has me in tears.

And Westcliff now belongs to the elite with many of the once seaside bungalows and 2/2 house converted into two-story 3000-5000 sq ft side by side behemoths…luxury weekend-holiday digs.

The city has just broken ground on the next phase on the north side of Pacific Ave where the fabulous farmers market once was.

The downtown skyline slowly disappears along with the starry night sky from where increasing light pollution.

Yeah, I was recently visiting a friend from my previous life working in aviation, saw what front street looks now like between the bookstore and the D league stadium and it was a shock, to say that least. I am old enough to remember downtown as the Pacific Garden Mall before the quake, another reminder that time moves on.

:( Oh well, it's not like I make the start up tech money to have a place there anyway. I guess if the state forces them to build units better to have it downtown and try to contain it there, at least keep it far away from the state parks.

At the top of Sevenmile Rim, not quite like the Top of the World view but pretty nice scenery. The paved road down below is Hwy 191.

So many wonderful views here in Moab. The offroad culture here is out of this world. Highly recommended if you are into this stuff.

Is that Whitefish point i believe where the Edmund Fitzergerald went down in Lake Superior?

I recognize the Mackinac Bridge in one of your pics and I thought maybe the museum in another. I’ve been there but many years ago.

I think you had a pic of a MGM 4R at the MAC bridge a few years back also? Hope all is well.

Been there to off-road 3 times. Twice in Oct and once in March. The March trip, night time temps got to 18* four nights in a row. Brrr... I've done Hells gate twice, but Wipe Out Hill was a hard pass. The two other times I was in Moab with the wife in Aug. Temps in the 100's.

Sure is... . or close to it. Point Iroquois light just down from WP, and then Grand Marais light. And yes I have a pic of my former MGM 4R there as well, I'm impressed you remember that !!!!

I am just glad I made it with no major scratches. And that I didn't have to call TrailMater recovery and probably would have ended in youtube and the forum gang here laughing and pocking at me :boink:.

I hope nobody would "laugh and poke" given the number of members here that would never ever EVER take their junk up that.

Count me on that list (not the laugh and poke fun part lol). Props to any of you brave/ crazy enough to do it, but no way, not for me. I had the same attitude about my adventure bikes as I do about my 4Runner; exploring the backcountry is exciting and fun, and the reason I got the vehicle, but at the end of the day, it's not my toy, it's a daily driver, and if it gets ruined in half an hour of goofy fun it'll never get me the thousand miles home afterwards. Discretion is the better part of valor, when it comes to vehicles, in my book. :D

I appreciate you guys being nice and not jerks or smart a$$es as there are plenty members here, specially the hard core offroaders. I am a weekend warrior with some intuition. In all honesty, I took some classes back in Houston and practice as much as I could before committing. The wife printed this sign for me as a reminder and had me on notice on Plan B and C if something was to go bad.

I hope they are ok. I can't imagine the jerking there when the back flipped. Looks like way too long of a trailer for the 4R.
