4Runner Stalking, er...um, SPOTTING with Charlie™ (5th Gen Edition)

Okay, I know what everybody is going to say; "That's just another boring and totally stock white SR5..."

That's true, it is; However, it's been so long since I've been to Rice's Market that I can't even remember the last time I went and I wanted to take pictures of the first Toyota I saw! I know that I haven't gone since before COVID started; We adopted Mandy in September 2018 and she died of rare congenital kidney disease in July 2019. I am pretty sure that I brought Mandy to Rice's at least once, so it has been about three years since I was last went!

So, here is a 2021 SR5 with Rice's Market and the beautiful scenery of the Solebury Township countryside as the backdrop!

2013 SR5; I am not entirely sure when they stopped using this style of wheels on the 5th Gen T4R, but I'm pretty sure I've seen T4Rs as old as 2010 with these wheels, and I believe that I might have seen a 2014 at a dealer with these wheels. After this weekend, I think I am going to stop taking pictures of all 5th Gen 4Runners that black, gray, silver, or white and not TRD PRO models; After spotting four white T4Rs at Peddler's Village in one day, I decided to take pictures of all four to show just how obnoxiously common they are. I would love to see a red, blue, or green one!

I found this 2010 Limited at Peruzzi Toyota; I took pictures partially because I wanted to show how common boring colored T4Rs are, but mostly because this particular one has different wheels than other Limiteds I've seen. Most of the Limiteds I've seen seem to have these same wheels but accented in black or gray, while these just seem to be plain aluminum. If you look closely, you will also see that this 2010 Limited has a fresh PA emissions sticker that expires in April 2023, but a safety inspection sticker that expires at the end of this month (April 2022); This is a clear indication that this T4R passed emissions with flying colors but has something wrong with it that caused it to fail safety. This happens more often than you think, and for the stupidest reasons!



According to Carfax, this T4R has about 160K miles on it, and it looks a bit worn but is far being the roughest 4Runner I've ever seen (I don't think I've seen a T4R newer than 4th Gen that I would classify as a "shitbox")...

My dad is on a business trip in Orlando and flew into Jacksonville International, where he got this as a rental; I didn't know they offered T4Rs for rent, and I certainly wouldn't have expected them to have a TRD Off-Road!

It is a 4WD and not registered in Florida, so I'm thinking someone drove it down from further North...

My dad loves Toyota, but he didn't really like the 2nd Gen Sequoia and ended up buying a CPO 2018 Yukon about four years ago with like 8,200 miles. He told me on the phone that the T4R felt underpowered, and asked me what engine it has. I told him "4.0L V6 with about 236hp" and he attributed his feelings to having driven a V8 for almost four years; Overall, his opinion of the T4R is good.

 

Finally got my dad to send me more pics of rented T4R; It is a 2021 model registered in Michigan. Last reported odometer reading was a little under 17K miles when it went in for service at a Toyota dealer in Jacksonville, Florida; My dad is done with work-relates business and is currently at my grandma's house, which is where these pictures were taken...
