    Have your attention?

Great - now help save me from the ridiculous embarrassment that is driving my 2013 4Runner Limited, 165K! Please!
If you live in my town, you can hear me coming because SOMETHING under my car is making the most heinous squeaking noise. I've taken it to the dealership 2x, and while they've been able to replicate the sound, but can't figure out where it is coming from - before they start replacing random parts, or I just accept that this is now my life - White Bessy Jalopy - any ideas? I can hear it after I stop for a few seconds, so would make sense it is something in the suspension? I have approx 165K on it and mostly highway. Temperature changes seems to impact the decibel level of the rusty bed springs creak....but I live in MD, where the seasons change daily, so temperature isn't really the best measure of performance.

    Ideas? Thanks!

Welcome. If it’s the suspension, you should be able to replicate it by rocking the 4Runner back and forth.

Sounds like a reason for an upgrade. Time for a mild lift with new tires. You're welcome.

I accidentally sprayed woolwax (greasy spray) on one of the rear coil spring seats, and it started to creak. You might have luck verifying if it’s the coil springs, by spraying water or brake cleaner and driving immediately to see if it stops.

If a coil is the culprit, you might need to take it off and clean the coil seat, maybe clean any rust off and repaint. You might as well inspect the isolator (spring bump stop (it caps the top of the coil. Maybe it wore through the rubber.

Just realized you didn’t mention where the noise is coming from. Given the mileage, it also could be any number of suspension bushings (especially any aftermarket bushings), or maybe even ball joints.

This. Use wd-40 or similar not so great lubricant. Start with one bushing or spring at a time each time you drive until the noise goes away-fix last item sprayed.
