Hey guys, looking to get a 4runner this week! I have the choice between a 1990 with the 3.0L and 180k miles, and the other is a 2000 with the 3.4L and 275k miles. I realize that the latter one has considerably more miles, but I also know that the 3.4 is highly favored over the 3.slow. I am not sure if it's worth going 10 years newer with the better motor, but take on the extra 100k miles. They are both also 4wd. The newer one is actually worth more according to KBB. Just looking for some guidance. We can assume that they have both been taken care of mildly. Everything is pretty much apples to apples, except the year, the motor, and the miles.

Is it possible for you to test drive them both?

I am checking out the 90 today. If I like it, I was planning to get it. Just wanted to know if there were any major reasons not to ‍♂️

I ended up getting a 95 because the guy with the 2000 never got back to me. Motor is solid. Did a tune up on it. Transmission just capped on me, so I'm going to get another one on Tuesday still love this truck! And I like having the tailgate on the back in the 2nd Gen. Maybe I'll swap to a 3.4 when this motor blows up ‍♂️
