    Hey everyone!

I got a 4runner about 7 months ago. LOVE IT. the past couple weeks I have noticed when ever I am on SUPER flat or new pavement I hear an intermittent humming or rumble noise. hummm.....hummm....hummm.... about 2 or 3 seconds apart. It only makes the noise during 2 moments, when I'm cruising between 35-45, or when I am on an off ramp slowing down. I hear it whether I am coasting or braking. There is NO shake in the steering wheel. There IS a slight vibration in the floor. (or i could just be trying to feel a noise haha) The noise is non existent when on driving 70+ or 25ish. I had the tires rotated 1000 miles ago. I only have 6000 miles on the thing.

I feel totally safe driving it, but i cant help but wonder what the humm or rumble like noise is. I have the dealer doing a alignment / balance check soon. Any other thoughts?

    Probably this:

The next time you are hearing it and going in a straight line around 30 or 35 miles an hour, put it in 4HI and see if the sound stops. If it does, and then returns when you put it back 2WD, it is almost certainly your needle bearing.

Good to hear! Hopefully it doesn't return. I'm around 38K on the replacement diff and still good.

As posted in another thread, my new 22 is in the shop for the same noise but they said Toyota wants to start with the driveshaft and that Toyota fixed the needle bearing in '19. I am totally frustrated!!!!!

I hear a ( Hummmm / k nob vibration ) from where the transfer case shifter is. Comes and goes as it pleases. Its been doing this from day one. I thought I was imagining things, until a passenger heard it too.
It was in in P. The car care nut says if all these noises bug you then the 4RNR isnt for you.

I get that, I totally understand vibes and hums are gonna come and go. But sometimes your gut just tells ya something isn't right. Plus $45k and a warranty make me wanna have it checked out :D 4 runner has quirks, but most are completely tolerable. No vehicle is perfect right. lol :D
