Trying to buy a 2020 ORP in magnetic gray( Northern NJ)
3 dealers within 20 miles but none in stock and they said none coming till this covid mess is over. Anyone have Black?
I'm considering it but might wait for 21s to come in and get the gray.
If you have the black is it a pain to keep clean?

Crestmont Toyota in Pompton Plains had a blue 2020 ORP when I purchased my Tundra. Stay away from black unless maybe it’s garage kept and you are dedicated to weekly details. They are gorgeous when clean but they are a PITA to maintain. I simply gave up on the black DD I had in the the past. Toyota has lowered production on many of their models which will most likely create more demand. Smart move from a business perspective...

Don’t settle OP, wait for the truck you want. Life is too short to make any payment on a vehicle you aren’t in love with...

I "settled" for an SR5 Premium in MGM last month. Love it so far and figured the extra off road features would be wasted on me. No ORP in my area either otherwise I would've gotten one to get it I guess lol.

Thank for your replies. Crestmont is closest to me and I spoke with them.
They don't have an sr5 in mgm either.
The other 2 Toyota dealers near me are crooks, liars, and thieves .
Unless they get some in soon ill wait for 21s and consider either sr5 or orp.

Will there be any new additions to the 2021 TRD ORP that the 2020 doesn’t have?

Don't think so. Just the trail edition that comes with a cooler. Like we don't already own a cooler.

MGM stays cleaner than black, but I agree it’s not as good as, say, white. But it’s a cool colour, and you don’t need to be totally compulsive to keep it clean. I wash mine about once a week, and it looks pretty respectable most of the time.

I agree. I am a little obsessive about keeping mine clean, and I think it looks pretty good most of the time when dirty.

Black Toyota paint swirls like crazy. If swirls bother you, don’t get black, as you’ll be chasing swirls indefinitely. Sure is a pretty color when maintained, though.

My local dealer has only SR5's available. Half their lot is empty. Never seen it so barren.

I thought I would never own a black vehicle because of clean vehicle OCD.

    Guess what...my 4Runner is black.

After the first few months I decided I was wasting my time and effort trying to keep it looking perfect.

I think I've washed it once in the past 5 months.

It's actually quite liberating not giving a sh*t whether or not my vehicle is clean.

I DO still clean off bird poop whenever that happens. That stuff is evil.

Don't limit yourself to 20 miles. Depending on what you want, be willing to drive. I got mine from a dealer 250 mi from me, the closest of the 3 I was talking too. Be patient and make the best choice for you.

One of the easiest to keep clean and doesn't really show dirt unless your mudding

You can have the dealer do a locator to find you one and have it delivered to their business. Granted you won’t get as great a deal as one they would have on the lot. But then again in these times you just might for them to gain a sale.

I felt more confident buying a 2020 ORP that was manufactured before the covid issue really kicked in. I don't know what the situation is around the plants in Japan where they are being built currently, particularly with the changeover to the forthcoming 2021 models.
I would suspect there may be greater quality control issues in plants where ppp masking and distancing requirements, and infected workers being off the line, could affect the end product.

I’ll see your “not black” and raise you “not any dark color”. We have a couple hundred yards of gravel lane to get to our garage. My wife had a black Pontiac G6 and it would show every hint of dirt. My silver T4R, white Tacoma, and her white Caddy SRX fair much better. Now it’s usually the windshields that show the dirt first.

Bought our T4R through our credit union’s partnership with Autoland (auto buying service). Gave them the specs on what we wanted and the found it, got a smokin’ deal, and delivered it to credit union parking lot.

Yeah I live on a gravel road, silver is probably the best. It’s the rear window that gets dusted up very easily on a 4 Runner.

The factories are all shut down..so inventory is shrinking. By the end of the summer , dealers are going to be praying for the 2021's to be built!

Yup! I chose silver because I hate washing my truck. I only have 100 miles on the odometer, but yes the rear window is filthy!Screenshot 2020-05-06 at 9.29.26 AM.jpg

You folks should just wait until 2021 when they are bringing back a solid front axle and V8 and manual transmission.

If you want one, get one while you can. Production, import & shipping chains for imported fairly low volume vehicles may be tenuous.

We also chose silver out of a very limited stock of ORP’s on Maui. Dust from our unpaved road was a factor.
A recent shipment just arrived from Japan, but only a few sr5’s and ones with leather & 3rd row & heated seats etc above 50k.
I avoid dark colors because they absorb heat sitting in the sun. My former 2012 Tacoma OR was a premium dark, hot metallic blue. After a couple of years all the scratches from brush & foliage stuck out from the whiteish paint layer under the blue sticking out, and it was much hotter than my current quicksand Tacoma, which I love.
I wish greens, quicksand and cement and other color choices were available for T4R.
