My Nightshade came with the auto running boards as they all do, it seams to work great! And won’t get all that snow buildup my standard ones did on my old Honda Pilot.

I hadn’t checked back with this thread since I didn’t get any e-mail notifications. Looks like I will go this route. Thanks for posting all the pics and comments. With winter weather the OEM setup is almost dangerous with a real slipping hazard.

I called Westin in California and they say their brackets only come with 6 brackets but do not mount running boards lower and further out . Can anyone offer any info to my confusion.

I ordered them from Amazon.ca. Expect to see them FeB 8. Although pic shows 4 brackets I’m told kit has 6. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Yes I installed them. Not a fan of running boards but they were a lot better with the new brackets. Running boards tend to be a catch all for snow and dirt. My wife found them a lot better with much more room to place your foot. I used the original bolts and nuts. Pretty straight forward.

Thanks @Steuny - I ordered a pair for my Limited, too. I have the same feeling about running boards but need them for my wife and little one

Are you saying you got these particular running boards directly from Toyota? When I ask the dealer about these particular running boards - they say I can't get them on my 2021 4 runner TRD. Did you get them new from the dealer? I think these boards look the best and glad to hear they actually work.

I decided to resurrect this thread to make it easier for someone looking for an answer to this problem.
My wife’s running boards have a rubber strip on the back side so I didn’t want to install the Westin brackets since they would lower them about an inch and negate the aesthetics of the rubber strip. I made these brackets out of 1-1/4” wide 3/16” strap from Lowes. Drilled and tapped the hole that holds the strap to the running board bracket. Drilled 5/16” holes for the other two. It gave her another 2” of exposed step when getting out. I did have to bend down a tab on the front bracket.
