Not sure if im blind but I absolutely cant find any information on installation of the "aftermarket" TRD Pro Grill on the 2020 4runners.

The only lead I got is from this thread: https://www.4runners.com/threads/be...-pro-heritage-grille.11836/page-2#post-131033

However I do know the OEM 2020 TRD Pro/Heritage grill is available to purchase through your local Toyota Dealer, but it will cost you BOTH of your arms and legs. I personally am not willing to spend that much when I can modify the aftermarket TRD Pro grill.

So here I am! I do know Iʻll need to perform some trimming at the inner bottom portion of the grill to allow room for the grill to sit flush over the Toyota Safety Sensor. I do also know that the upper grill replacement has been changed for the 2020 4runners as well. How have they changed? I do not know, so any info from you fellow 2020 T4R owners would be greatly appreciated.

Here is where ive got so far....

Took measurements of how long the sensor is and how far the sensor sticks out. Orange arrows show where the sensor is located fyi.

    IMG_4619.jpg

Used a Dremel Kit to cut and shave.

Please if any other 2020 owner has performed this install your help or guidance is greatly appreciated.

I put an older oem on my 2020 and like you mentioned you do have to trim the black cover section (easy) and the upper grill. I'm not sure how to explain the cutting on the upper section, but I'll get you a pic at some point. I know you can also buy some new plastic brackets up top to avoid cutting the upper grill. I cut mine.

I’d also like to understand what needs to be trimmed on the upper section! Thanks in advance!

Your actually cutting the new pieces you buy to add and not altering anything on the vehicle.
It's hard to really tell from a pic, but you basically take a course burring tool and grind out room for the 2020 bracket to recess into the new grill section. The old screws only grab by a couple threads so be prepared to buy 2 new screws if it bothers you. All the work is totally hidden and actually added about 10 minutes to the install. I think you can tell the old from new pieces in the pics. The old dirty piece is the used trd grill section and clean is 2020 bracket.

Nice! I wish I could help but I only did the heritage grill on my 2019. I will say I love the way it looks after I put it in and the truck looks better IMO. Hope this goes well for you.

Can you not get a PRO grill from a 20 to avoid any cutting? Or is there a difference in the TSS sensor location? Wife has a 20 TRD ORP and would like to have the PRO grill.

It's my understanding you can, but in my case I already owned it.

I work at the local Toyota dealer here in Hawaii and the 2020 Pro grill is available to purchase from the parts department. However, with my employee discount I would be paying about $700-$800 for the part.

Thank you so much man. Really appreciate your help! Quick question, this picture refers to the support bracket that connects from the grill to near the hood latch correct?
