No, the 2020s are completely different. The issues we were having were related to Apple CarPlay, I don't think any of us had issues with bluetooth. I would take a more aggressive approach in your troubleshooting with the dealership though. If he claims it your phone make him connect his phone and see if you have the same issues. Stuff like that. Open a ticket with Toyota corporate. They will stay on top of the dealership to get a resolution.

Thanks for that tidbit, I didn't think about having his phone attached to it...

    From the below post thread!
    Thanks E5J

JBL Premium Head Unit Constantly Rebooting ***SOLVED***
Found this on Tundras. com, posted by WNY PAT | Toyota Tundra Forum and it ABSOLUTELY WORKS!!!

    FIXED LAST NIGHT:

Went to the Apple Store Genius Bar and told the guy what was happening. He came out to my truck and fixed it in less than 5 minutes. You must be running the latest iOS. First, forget the 4Runner from the iPhone Bluetooth settings. You must also remove the iPhone from the 4Runner radio so there are no phones paired. You must turn off the Bluetooth on the iPhone until the last step. Here’s what he did to the phone:

Before starting any of this, back up your phone to your iCloud account and/or your PC / MAC via iTunes...

    1. Uninstall Apple Music app.
    2. Reset network settings.
    3. Sign out of your iTunes account on your iPhone.
    4. Restart the iPhone.
    5. Sign in to iTunes account on iPhone again.
    6. Reinstall the Apple Music app.
    7. Open the Apple Music app, select songs, then select shuffle and let it begin playing the music on the iPhone first to be sure it’s working properly.
    8. Pair the phone with the truck again (turn Bluetooth on, go to audio screen and select add).

I did this last night and drove the truck for about 15 min... Today, no issues... Music and iPhone / calls working fine. Also jumped in my wife's 2015 T4R LE and played a couple songs... No more rebooting on that radio either. Hope this works for you guys too! Good luck!!

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Jason

Hey y’all! I recommend checking to see if your bluetooth is on. I was experiencing all kinds of issues with Apple CarPlay in my brand new 2020 4Runner (using my couple month old iPhone 11 Pro on most recent firmware)- pixelated screen, entire navigation shutting off and restarting, choppy sound and freezing screen (similar to the issues described in this thread). Since the Toyota 4Runner vehicles connect your phone to CarPlay through USB/cord, Bluetooth is not needed so turn it off. Once I turned Bluetooth off all of my issues stopped happening and haven’t happened in 2 days! I drove 4+hours today with not one hiccup- I made & received multiple calls during the drive, used the Waze app & Pandora on CarPlay the whole time! We’ll see if it keeps up but as of now it is night and day in behavior while using CarPlay with my iPhone 11 Pro. I think the bluetooth was interacting somehow.

I also completely deleted the Entune App. I hated that app in my last 4Runner and CarPlay is working better without it than it was when the app was on my phone.

Can someone post the files here for a 2018 TRD ORP? Looking for the latest update. Not sure if I have audio plus or premium audio.

    Thank you!

I don’t think your 2018 has Apple car play from the factory, it was first introduced in 2020 for the 4Runners.

Are you experiencing any of the issues that the OP was having? If not, I wouldn’t worry about the update.

Could someone repost 1047 files please, seems like I have no visibility to original post for some reason. Than you.

Hello everyone - new to the forum and have a 2020 Limited

I'm having similar issues with Android Auto. If i pause Spotify or a Podcast the system freezes and won't unpause. It will then either reboot or I will have to unplug and replug to get it to work. I have a Note 10+ and have used many rentals with AA with zero problems. This is extremely frustrating!

Anyone have the update files/directions that @davidgasparyan posted earlier in the thread? It looks like it was removed from the original post. Thanks!

I was able to fix all my Apple CarPlay issues by switching from a 5ft cable to a 1ft cable. The USB is underpowered for any newer iPhone/Android so by reducing cable size you decrease any power loss from the already underpowered USB port. I had previously tried all of the above fixes but seen a few references on YouTube to cable size and it worked flawlessly. Tested on both iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPhone 12.

FWIW, I bought a 2020 Limited in June of 2020 (manufacture date of March 2020) and have had zero problems with CarPlay or other aspects of the infotainment system. For a connection, I've used the ~3-foot long cables that came with the phone -- first an iphone 7 and now a 12. No problems with either. I have accepted the couple over-the-air Etune updates that I've seen, but the system worked fine before those updates as well. I've seen no issues related to bluetooth, which tends to be active on my phone while I'm in the car, since I use Airpods a lot. I have not however connected my phone to the car via bluetooth, as it's unnecessary when you can connect to CarPlay (plus there's the data-harvesting / privacy issues).

Toyota's infotainment system is def not the best, with several design and user interface stupidities. As is common with these kinds of systems. But mine has always worked as designed. Again, just FWIW.

I've used the Tesla interface and so far it blows away anything I've seen for ANY vehicle with infortainment. Tesla just got it right in this area and their entire interface is beautifully designed UI. Auto manufacturers have forever lagged in this area.
