In 2012 rear camera was an option. Is the wire back there in the tailgate? The radio I am replacing because it fails in the on position screen dark knobs don't function. I was able to get it to function again by knocking on the screen.
I bought a Lasertail aftermarket radio has all the bells and whistles. The direction on the youtube vid shows plugging in to the yellow RCA in the stock wiring loom. Thank you.
This is the vid it says 19 for the year I have a 12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjplWU1OKTc

The yellow RCA pigtail would only be for an aftermarket rear camera with RCA outputs

The OEM is wired thru a multi-pin plug.
The 2012 with JBL and Entune did have backup camera, but if yours didnt have either of those stock you may have to wire in an aftermarket.

I see in the video, they include a wiring harness adaptor with RCA outputs.
Do you have a backup camera mounted above the license plate? If yes, just install and go. If no, you get to buy a rear view camera kit and install.

No I don't . I'm trying to avoid taking the panel off the tailgate. They send you a camera and a wire long enough to reach the tailgate. I will not remove the headliner. If the wire is back there I would fish the camera wire thru the license plate light and mount a different license plate mounted camera. I ran into this same issue with my 96 FZJ 80 Land Cruiser but there is no wire back there so I had to run the wire under it and mount the camera to the trailer hitch. It's looking like I will have to do the same here. Thank you
