Question is - do I keep the car after the cylinder head is replaced - Or get rid of it?

I heard this is a really bad thing to break (and should not have since the car is only 6 years old with 99,000 miles).

Thankfully under extended warranty, so the dealer is replacing the cylinder head (otherwise would have charged me $6,800).!

A number of folks on here might be able to chime in. @Ol'Blue has probably dealt with this a time or two.

im super curious to know whats happened to cause a cylinder head to need replacing as a whole unit. I know Toyota policy is to replace rather than machine the surface but if it is warped why did that happen? head gasket failure? I suspect you have an anomaly but still this deserves digging

why is it broke ? did they remove it and have it inspected ? could just be a screw up at the factory when they installed the cyl head. bad gasket also. sometimes if you do many very short trips the heads do move alot causing the gaskets to leak.

you will find many repair shops that will fix it for far less than $7K USD..
