I have a 2007 4Runner limited that has a problem with the voice recgonition where it comes on its own and the dealer has not been able to come up with a solution. It appears to be caused by the steering wheel controls because by pushing any button on the steering wheel the unwanted message will stop. Is there a way to deactivate the steering wheel controls without taking out the navigation system? should I replace the whole system with an after market system?

    This and that
If the problem is with the steering wheel controls the dealer should have a fix. Replacing the whole unit would be a waste when that's the only problem. Perhaps you should look into replacing those controls...
