1997 4Runner oil cooler

Hello!
The oil cooler has failed on my son’s 1997 2.7L 4 cyl. 4Runner and the shop can’t find this part, and says they’ve looked everywhere. The original part is 15710-75010 and has been discontinued. There is another part for that is 75011, but not sure if it will work. Was wondering if anyone has had to track down this part or use a similar one?

How did it fail? It's really just a block of metal.

You'll have to check junkyards or ebay for it.

Getting parts is getting harder for these classic cars.

 

Not sure, the shop says they can hear it leaking inside when pressurized? They say it’s not something simple as a seal.

 

Is the oil getting coolant mixed in? If not... Then it's not leaking. I would ignore it if the oil isn't contaminated.

 

The coolant wasn’t mixing with the oil, but they said that this is the reason why the oil got into the coolant system, happened on a 2 hr trip and oil was leaking out of the coolant reservoir- it’s a mess

 

True. Forgot oil pressure is higher than coolant pressure.

They could probably just cap it off for now. Cut the hoses and stick something in it and tighten with hose clamps or something.

Probably fine if you don't overwork the engine at least until you find a replacement from a yard.

Well after paying mega zip.com 2 weeks ago, they just sent an email saying they don’t have the part. Anyone have any ideas?

 

The 75011 appears to only fit the RZN185L model number, manufacture year 05/1997+

you can check yours in the door sill

 

Thanks. It’s at the shop but the vin indicates it was made 1/97 so that’s why the 75010 part. I’ll have them check the door tho. Lots of oil coolers in stock for the 6 cyclinder but not this 4 cylinder sadly.
