So it’s been a few months now and both Toyota and Fox say they know of this issue with the new suspension making the hollow thump at low speed when cold and are”working” on a fix. They say it has no effects on the truck but I’ve had to have my alignment redone and it’s not to it’s first service yet lol. I’m kind of shocked they not sort this sooner. I know most of you aren’t in cold places like I am but how many others have had this issue?

Was this a standard feature on the TRD Pro, or did you guys have to pay extra for it?

Sorry, just being snarky. Hope they find a fix for it.

Are you saying that the fox suspension caused the need for an alignment?

I’d say the alignment went off very fast after it started and to the same side thatbthe shock is having the issue so then saying it’s doing nothing I finding hard to believe. Ya alignment goes off but a new vehicle not even to a maintenance yet with a shock issue on only one side make it look a bit dodgy to me when they say oh it’s nit effecting anything. Fix it and move on as they should I say

And you don’t get -32 plus where you live lol. Oddly they said it’s every 19 pro that will need whatever fix they come up with

Fox makes some good stuff but it seems every time they have an OEM offering it’s a cheap version with sticker bling.

And I was waiting for someone to say that. I’ve checked everywhere as well and can’t find nothing on it. Hence me posting here. Toyota says it’s a field tech knowledge only and since only 3 reported problems all in my state and one over they aren’t posting it due to most people not noticing it. It’s got me very angry the way they are handling it. I’m thinking it’s due to most fools making them concrete queens and not using their rigs and most are not in the colder temp states. I run my rig proper and am a fool for every noise but you can even feel it in the floorboards on the passenger side. I have a case open at Toyota level and check every week on it.

I don’t see how this would have caused an issue with your alignment though? Seems unrelated. Some rough off-roading could have done it... may have bent a cam tab, or perhaps your cam bolts weren’t quite torqued down enough to begin with? If you Offroad, I would consider getting cam tab gussets, or at the very least, after an alignment, double check the torque of the cam bolts yourself. I’ve often found them to only be cinched up, but not torqued down.

I lost the OP at "due to most fools making them concrete queens".

It's been 19 months since their last post, so I figure we'll never find out what happened.

I don’t have a pro but my stock tokico struts made a slight knock when cold for about 3 minutes then went away then I installed a complete ARB BP51 and walla same symptoms in cold weather the more it’s driven the faster the hollow knock sounds go away but I never lost any suspension articulation and it seems to go away until the truck cools off to outside temperature

I just had this same problem come up, thankfully before the warranty expired. This YouTube video from Vikings Garage does a great job of showing where the clunking noise is coming from…basically the last coil is to close to the one above and will compress in cold weather where it will contact the above coil causing the clunking sound. Check out the video. https://youtu.be/hw8VgahEGXE

Mine definitely has the knock on both sides just as described and 40 F seems to be the temp it begins. I'm skeptical if it is really the coils causing the issue. I see that a change was made to the coils to keep them from contacting, but my bet is they did something inside the shock to make it quit knocking. I think the change to the coil was to make the coating last longer (aesthetics).

Mine is completely fixed by turning up the stereo. YMMV
