'99 4Runner 4x4 Limited w/ only 109K miles...

Hey Ladies and Germs,
I'm wondering if any of you 4th-gen'ers are taking the 'Stereo Controls' from another wheel (off of the same year, but had this feature), and using this to add to your standard wheel. I am going to try this, but I hope I don't have to toy with the airbag, or any essential part of the steering collom (sp)
The harness is already there, and apparently is there for all the 4runners of this year....PLEASE CHIME IN!
