Issue with 285/70/17 on 3" lift?

Has anyone run 285/70/17 on a 4th gen with a 3” lift and stock wheels. I installed the lift but the tire guy wouldn’t install the tires. Said I needed new wheels. Is uca rubbing a problem and will after market wheels fix the problem or will wheel spacers on stock wheels work? Rc said they recommend 285 with 3 in lift with no problems. Please help I need wisdom

 

Get the tires installed somewhere else. They will likely rub on the UCA at full lock of the steering wheel. New wheels will likely cause rubbing on the body mounts. Choose your poison.

Wheel spacers will cause the same body mount rubbing. Sometimes worse then if you get aftermarket wheels due to the exaggerated “offset”.

 

Thanks again for the advice. I took it to another shop and they mounted and balanced the tires. Like you said I’ve only had slight rubbing when I’m at full crank. Thanks!
