    Hello all,

Running 14ga speaker wire in my 2024 TRD ORP non JBL. The rear doors have a molex plug connector blocking the door boot. I plan to VERY CAREFULLY DRILL OUT the area without pins in the center to feed the wire through the door boot (near my index finger).

Has anyone tried this? Is there another way to run speaker wire? I don't want to drill out the plug in my truck if I don't have to.

    Seems you might void warranty?
Amazon has lots of small round rubber gaskets to press into holes in sheet metal. Also small hole saws to match. Cut a hole nearby metal, debur hole press in rubber gasket. Razor blade a small slot in gasket and feed your wire thru.

I concur with Hawk. The word he’s looking for, though, is grommet.

I placed an order for the exact size grommets I'll need & a some kind of loom to protect the wires inside the door jam.

That connector has plenty of open slots available for you to use. Why not get some pins (male and female) and add your wires to the existing connector? How many leads to you need to have pass through there? I see ten open spots.

Parts would probably be less than $10 or $20 on Amazon. Example (have not confirmed these are the right size for you . . . you'd need to confirm)

I had that thought too and then I reread the original post. 14 gauge. Tiny pins. Hmm.

Why not use an adapter harness and use the factory wiring?

A 125 watt/channel amplifier will drive 130 watt speakers. The rear/hatch door speakers are wired in series, therefore wiring those speakers to the amplifier is required to have the proper resistance (ohms). If rewiring is required, might as well go bigger than OEM (16ga). Not to mention, several car audio professionals have commented that the OEM speaker wires are just as bad as the OEM Audio system when it comes to increasing the wattage.

Now, I have an excuse to buy the Milwaukee drill I've been lusting after!

I used that stock plug. Found the stock speaker wires and just crimped my 14ga into the speaker wires coming out of that plug. Works great.

Now. Maybe thats not idea because the size of wire drops briefly down to what ever the factors is. And like you I used 14ga......but the rear speakers arent supposed to give you your good sound anyway and its. It's a very short run with the stock wiring through that plug resistance so its fine.
